Oldham versus Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Sterling hasn't been playing well at all in recent weeks. I think the lad needs to head to the gym, bulk up, and stop going down at every instance. Also, it's clear that Borini isn't up to the mark either - he makes a few good runs here and there, but he hasn't shown anything more than that to suggest that he's Liverpool quality. Coates, again, as I've said from day 1, is a liability, a poor defender, in literally every aspect of the game.

Was their ONE players which appeared today? Maybe Suarez. That's It. Jones ,Sterling ,Robinson ,Sturrdige (pure *****) ,Borini ,Coates ALL pure $hiite today. The rest just your usual *****.

Rodgers has got to build the mentality of this team as it has collapsed time and time again.

Oh well now we can focus on winning the League title.

I'd recommend concentrating on improving the basics first. i.e. passing & defending.

The less said about that game the better.

Best forget it and get our heads on the Arsenal game.

No doubt they'll be idiots on here looking for scapegoats to blame but the reality is that no one in that team is worthy of any praise

Too many changes AGAIN!
Can someone tell me how many times weve played a weaker team, gone behind and gone on to win the game with our best players coming on.
I want Rodgers to learn from his mistakes but if he is hes taking his Fu*king time doing it
Sterling, Borini, Allen, Robinson, Coates, all too weak to play for Liverpool
Embarrassing

Rodgers is going to get a lot of flak for this result and rightly so, he showed a complete lack of preparation for what Oldham were going to bring to the game and he made some massive selection and tactical errors.

I'm absolutely bemused by that ,a team that can only play long balls up to a big target man ,and we leave our two most experienced defenders out .
We put our weakest midfielder in Joe Allen up against a team were  winning the midfield battle is essential .

Oldham deserved their win because they had more heart ,add to that Sterling was gash ,Suarez was struggling with trying to replicate Gerrard's game and
Sturridge will in all probability never play as badly again EVER !!!! Oh and our goalkeeper chose this game to show just why us reds supporters have serious reservations about his overall ability as a keeper .......and Rodgers played Borini who made Sterling look productive .

Manager got this one wrong ,we needed commanders in the middle today and he gave us cadets.

Sh*t happens, we always falter against the more physical lower league teams in the cups. It happened a few times with Rafa as well. Fact of the matter is that we were sloppy, lazy at the back. I've seen we don't play well unless we have the full line of Reina, Agger and Skrtel together bringing the ball out into our midfield. Even Carragher has learnt to adapt to Rodgers' system, not so much Coates.

But we were really undone by some really poor play for Coates and Jones and it was raining as f*ck - so once we were behind, it was always going to be a tad difficult with a park the bus kind of a team to play in front on bad turf. Sh*t happens.

Let's focus on the next game, keep things positive, this is a good team and I believe in them. Just one suggestion - we MUST replace Coates.

Do any of you actually play soccer or do you just come in here to slag the team off? The field was so sh*t that it made passing nearly impossible. Their players were climbing all over our players on free kicks and a lot of clear fouls were not given (including the one that led to the last goal). On top of that, it was dumping freezing rain. These kind of conditions can act as an equilizer for lesser teams

Jack Robinson was absolutely horrid. Was at fault for the last goal and makes terrible decisions.

Coates and Brad Jones were bad too.

I would also like to point out that Chelsea tied and Tottenham lost to Leeds today so this kind of thing does happen to good teams.

Andy Carrol would have been extremely useful in this type of game. Also, maybe we should look for a tall centre back that is just really, really good aerially (like that greek fella Soto we had a few years back) that could play in this kind of game.

Rogers is going to have to figure out how to beat teams like this regularly (see Stoke, West Ham) that try to bully our players if we are going to get back into the top four.

I think Sterling needs to go back to bulking up and training - his promise is quickly vanishing. When you're physically limited, you need to turn up with the goods with the feet and passing consistently, but he's been unable to do any of that recently. He needs rest. Coutinho might provide change there.
