Chelsea really need to bring in a strong centre back and a left back and they need someone of Alonso, Pirlo and Schweinsteiger's quality, who can sit behind Mata, Oscar and Hazard and really control the ebb and flow of the game. They don't have this player. Ramires is a decent player, but he's nothing special. They have loaned out Essien and not replaced him. Up front they have Torres, Moses and Sturridge, none of who can really do the job that Drogba did for them. Quite why they let Lukaku go is beyond me, he's looking like a real talent at West Brom and has hinted he wouldn't mind a permanent deal at the Hawthorns.

Chelsea can sack Rafa and bring in Avram Grant, Jose Mourinho, Unai Emery or whoever and they'd still be struggling this season. Abramovich needs to bring in a left back, a centre back, a defensive midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder and they need to bring in a striker who can score goals.

Tell me sunshine, in what universe does it make any logical sense that you want us to "do well" in all competitions yet inadvertently want Rodgers out?

If we did well in all our remaining competitions there would be NO reason for Benitez to return.

If Roman had of had a long term plan from day one, by now they could have been the best team in England and Europe.
But he doesn't, he wanted instant success and has sacked everybody that has failed to deliver it.

They don't have any original ideas at that club.  They see a striker doing well for a club (Torres, Shevcenko) and assume they'll do the same job for Chelsea.

There are huge problems at that club and instead of facing the problems the owner just keeps signing more players and sacking managers after a few poor results.

I couldn't care less about Roman or Chelsea, I hope that clubs falls outside the top four again this season and I hope the circus that is Chelsea continues to roll on by! I want Roman to stay there, because as long as he stays there, Chelsea will never be a stable club and any success they enjoy will be limited and they will never dominate English or European football.

Roman's biggest mistake as Chelsea manager was sacking Mourinho. Mourinho adored Chelsea, his wife loved living in London, Mourinho was happy and I believe if Roman wasn't such a meddling moron, Mourinho would still be in charge of Chelsea. Chelsea under Mourinho were the greatest Chelsea side of all time, irrespective of Ancelotti's achievements or the CL success that Villas-Boas/Di Matteo brought to Stamford Bridge last season.

Now it's reported that Mourinho is eyeing up the United job, a club that is probably one of the most stable, (ownership issues aside). As for Rafa, he needs to go to somewhere like Aston Villa or Swansea, where he can really build a team up into a formidable force, because if he fails with this interim stint as Chelsea manager, he'll find it hard to get into another top club, because of his record at Inter and Chelsea.

I honestly think he has the wrong decision taking this job on, he should have never bothered.

Its just a 7 month contract. Benitez wants to manage a top side capable of winning trophies, and his wife wants to stay in england. There are not that many top sides to chose from and he has been out of a job for a while now. Imo Benitez knew the risks and decided to give it a go to get back into the media spotlight in the hopes that another job would open up.

He probably made the wrong choice as Roman misunderstood the manager of the month award.

It would have just been easier saying "he will be out of a job by summer anyway" as your comment is quiet confusing to people that don't live in the UK.

Anyway semantics aside the original arguement was that he is a Anfield "legend", which he is not. He never won the league, so in my book he was a fantastic cup manager and tactian.

I had a lot of respect for the man, especially the s**t he had to put up with at the end of his tenure with tweddle dee and tweddle dum.

BUT as I have already said I have lost a lot of respect for him now that he is at that club, no one has forced him to take that role. No one.

so a european cup winning manager isnt a legend? i know we set the bar high at anfield but that is ridiculous.

Rafa is an Anfield legend in my book too...........winning the league can't be the only way a manger can earn legendary status , surely!
