All the best to him and I hope he can do a good enough job that when Abramovich eventually fires him he can get hired by a respectable club. Just as long as Fernando keeps ploughing along with the guile and grace he currently is I bare Rafa nothing but good will  :D

rafa is a decent choice and with the players already there he will do well with them and maybe even win the league this year. he wont take any of romans ***** either and will do it his way.
the plastic fans wont like him but they will warm to him when he starts getting results.
best of luck to the man
if you really think Chelsea will win the league put money on it.

I think they have no chance

they have a good side scs and were practically demolishing all before them at the start of the season.despite the bad results of late they are only 4 points off top and at this stage its hard to rule them out which is why i said "maybe" .
rafa will tighten them up to the point that they wont give much away and they will push the manc clubs right to the end.

Don't see it. First thing he'll do is introduce zonal marking, which will feck up their defence no end.

Curious one. Rafa's left his past three clubs amid accusations of board room interference and a lack of proper support from the owners. Chelsea come calling, a club that's just sacked it's manager under the most farcical of circumstances, and he's suddenly bending over backwards to try and get the job. I've always liked the man but this is an inexplicable move, especially given the recent history between the two clubs. He might contend that it's a good opportunity to prove he can still manage at the top level having been in the wilderness for a couple of years, but Chelsea is still Chelsea and Abramovich still Abramovich. Unless he really is the Messiah then the chances are he'll be out of a job again come the summer.

In a way this is a significant day for our club as well.

The last remanants of the Rafa cultists have been given a fatal blow.

Rafa Benitez is now at Cheatski and is the enemy, we are all Liverpool fans through and through.

Hopefully this ends the "In the good old days, when Benitez was in charge........." nonsense that has been sprouted for years now.

Club before any individual.

I just thank my lucky stars that I wasn't a super uber Rafa disciple, how I would be feeling now given that the next coming has done a Judas towards the anti-thesis of football.

Jesus wept, people....
Does ANYONE think Benitez is there to build a lasting legacy? At the club perhaps only marginally more dysfunctional than Citeh?
He's been scratching his hoop for months. I'm sure he's only delighted to be working again...

I've deleted so many attempts to post as they're probably too unfair, but I feel like my wife's getting it on with an old enemy.  He's obviously got to earn a living, but with CHELSEA??

F*** him, i hope him and Torres screw it up royally.

I have the greatest of respect for everything Rafa's done for the H96 but CHELSEA?

I still have major respect and love for Rafa Benitez, but the fella has gone down in my estimations. I never want him back as our manager, long live Brendan Rodgers and may be here for the next thirty years.

Rafa is just desperate, just further proof that humans have no real sense of loyalty etc.

I've heard the comment "Any port in a  Storm " but FFS Rafa why Chelsea ?

I don't think any LFC manager in recent times divided the fans like Rafa Benitez.

Personally I loved the guy and gave me some of my greatest moments as a fan. However his obsession with rotation, zonal marking (which a lot of clubs deploy these days ironically) and an almost paranoid attention to detail brought him a lot of criticism and had fans tearing what little hair they had left out.

We used to sing of the best midfield in the World ( Alonso, Gerrard, Mascharano and Momo Sissoko) and Torres up front !  The season we finished Second to the Mancs we did the Double over Chelsea and Man U and drew twice with Arsenal losing just 2 games all season (at Spurs and Boro). United had to go 13 games without conceding a  goal just to stay ahead of us. We finished with the highest ever amount of pts for a team finishing runners up in the premiership.

Call me sentinental if you must but his record speaks for itself.

Good Luck Rafa but please for your own dignity and self respect don't stay at chavski for long .................

Chelsea supporters are going to give Rafa such a hard time on Sunday when he steps out in the dugout for his first match in charge of Chelsea.

Hopefully they lose to City because out of the three clubs at the top of the league, City are a club I'd like to see win the league title.
