Rafa benitez appreciation thread - Part 2

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

hope he doesn't go... but rumours are gathering pace..

Today Benitez, in Abu Dhabi to talk at a coaching seminar, refused to confirm whether the club had made any approach, but said that Chelsea would fit the criteria of the kind of club he would return to management for.

Asked whether Chelsea would be the kind of side to tempt him back into coaching after a break of nearly two years, Benitez told the National, "Obviously it is a top side and they can compete for trophies so it falls in this category.

"What I will say is that I am looking for a club that can challenge for trophies so Chelsea is one of these clubs.

"The reason [I have not coached for nearly two years] is that you are looking for a top side that can challenge for trophies, because there are not too many top sides that can challenge so I had to wait."

it would be very two faced of him if he did go after some of the thing he has said about them in the past and he said more when Andre Villas-Boas was sacked, but then again a day later he was linked to the job even then.

The sad reality is Rafa cannot afford to be loyal to Liverpool if the Chelsea job is offered. He has hardly been flooded with job offers since Inter Milan has he.

There have been examples of some on here wishing for a beneficiary owner like Abramovich so we can buy a title or trophy.

They fail to grasp the baggage that comes along with it. Egotism, controlling and generally instability.

No thanks.

Seems like it will be Rafa taking over alright.
Don't see it working out to be honest.

Thats not true as they are not all as bad as Roman is.

However they represent everything that is wrong with todays football. Its turned into a game of "who has the biggest wallet."

Rafa to chelsea would be hilarious. Their fans hate him with a passion and there's no way rafa's ego would prevent him clashing with their chairman.

It would be a disaster.

It has disaster written all over it.

The Chelsea supporters hate him, him and Roman will clash from the off. I give him six months.

They're going to keep him until the end of the season and then they'll try and replace him for Pep Guardiola.

did anyone here actually for one minute think that di matteo would last in that job?.
rafa is a decent choice and with the players already there he will do well with them and maybe even win the league this year. he wont take any of romans ***** either and will do it his way.
the plastic fans wont like him but they will warm to him when he starts getting results.
best of luck to the man
