considering we are only 2 points away from 4th from bottom and our next 3 league games are chelsea away, swansea away and spurs away it`s no exaggeration to say thats where we could be sitting by the end of this month.
with suarez precariously one booking away from a suspension there`s a good chance he will miss one of those tricky upcoming encounters as well.
it`s one thing to be hovering above the relegation zone at the start of the season but to be hovering there in the run up to christmas is another thing altogether. add to that being out of the league cup, the transfer window farce, our worst start in over a century and that awful television show and rodgers first 6 months incharge could be one of the worst in our entire history.
at the end of last season everyone knew we needed a goalscorer, to go the entire summer and not address that issue is bad enough, but to compound the situation by starting the season with a weaker striker department than we ended last season almost defies belief.
with decision making like that at the club it`s no wonder we find ourselves in this position.
the one glimmer of hope is that maybe this will shock the yanks into putting their hands in their pockets and backing brendan in a big way.

In fairness to him he was positive throughout Kenny's second reign when people like myself became Moaning Mertels. Though in fairness to him he has a point, we let game changers like Carroll, Maxi, Bellamy and Kuyt leave and only brought in Borini who has struggled to find his feet at the moment. I was worried about this in the summer and said at the start of the season that we looked weaker heading into this season than we did last season under Kenny. FSG need to make available to Rodgers all the money the club has generated in revenue over the last six months in January, even if it's £20m, that's fine by me, just as long as we can bring in an attacking midfielder or a striker, someone who will help Suarez, because if Suarez is injured or suspended, I cannot see where our goals will come from.

You have to be totally realistic and clinical, we don't have the firepower and we're not going to splash out to buy star top drawer quality so this year is already an 'academy year' bringing the young lads through, a chaning of the guard. I'll take 8th-10th place on 60 points. Expecting more is a dream becuase whilst we can expect 1 point a game, we dont have the ability to get a regular 3 points as we can see, that'll cost time and money which aint going to happen this season.

Patience is a virtue.

the problem with that though is trying to convince your better players to stay at the club, contracts arent worth the paper they are written on these days (adebayor wants a move after signing one in the summer) and if the owners dont show ambition in january what are the likes of suarez, skrtel and agger going to think? they were all linked with big, ambitious clubs in the summer and we just about held onto them by the skin of our teeth.
say suarez scores 40 goals this season? playing in the prem isnt a turkey shoot like playing for barcelona or real madrid where every forward scores bucketloads because those clubs have stitched up the t.v rights and have way more power than everyone else in the league.
if suarez scores a sh*tload of goals in this country for a struggling side you can bet your bottom dollar it will be noticed right around europe, and if the owners faff around bringing in the likes of hooper, ba and walcott i think we`ll do well to hang onto him.

Well... I think he can be forgiven for not winning FA cup/Europa due to recent successes in cups. League has to be how he his judged.
Fans will want top 4, however all of the contenders (Arsenal, Everton, Spurs, Newcastle) are better placed than us. I think it is unrealistic.

We should aim to finish above Everton. Their squad is thin and they are bound to have a sticky patch middle to end of the season.

I think Newcastle and Spurs are consistent; even when they don't play well they seem to pick up points, so they will be above us. Arsenal are as inconsistent as us, so i think we could possibly finish 6th or 7th realistically, but this will not be enough to save Brendan, due to poor cup runs and an average league campaign.

1st. Man United (Fergie finally retires)
2nd. Man City (Sacked)
3rd. Chelsea (Sacked)
4th. Spurs
5th. Newcastle
6th. Liverpool (Sacked)
7th. Arsenal (Wenger leaves)
8th. Everton (Moyes goes to MU)
9th. West Brom
10th. Swansea
11th. West Ham
12th. Fulham
13th. Stoke
14th. Aston Villa
15th. Wigan
16th. Norwich
17th. Sunderland
18th. QPR (Sacked)
19th. Southampton
20th. Reading

Those days are clearly gone now and we have a vision for the club and my expectation has
lowered accordingly and even lads like Gerrard have re affirmed the position and in short
not to expect too much anymore.

I agree with a previous post in that league position is almost an after thought this year and
all I want to see is a steady improvement in play and that anyone we bring into the club
upgrades the team.

To be quite honest I just gave up chasing the dream and we are what we are now, and before
us is Liverpoool today in the here and now and it just not in a position to be the powerhouse club
its been in the past, maybe one day, but for the forseeable future its just not.

There's also a fella called Kuyt who falls into the old/value for money category. Maybe we should approach him.

Looking at the way things have panned out, I reckon if Liverpool end up scraping through just past 10th, then that'll do and anything else will be a bonus. I don't know what Brendan is going have to to turn Liverpool into serious contenders for 4th, TBH. I hope he does, though. And FSG aren't going to wait around for years JUST to get into 4th spot either.

As for Carrol...shipping him off was fine by me. I never wanted him in the side anyway and always considered him a bad purchase. He was fcuking terrible. There's no other way to put it and he's STILL by terrible in the side today.

But, not getting a replacement?  :no

Brendan's journey is all uphill.
