Brendan Said post match......"We've got what we've got. A lot of young players are going to get an opportunity."

Does this mean more from the youth academy/ reserves?

Regardless of where the responsibility lies (and for me the manager should always be first in line to take responsibility in such matters), we made a huge mistake in letting so many players leave without properly replacing them. For what it's worth, I do think we'll have the money to spend in January but unfortunately I dont see us being in a position to compete for forth by then and as such I dont expect any big names to even consider coming to us. Like last season, the time to get it right was the summer and throughout the last campaign it became obvious to me that if we dont get our transfers right this summer then we probably wont go far in terms of improving the results.

3 games into the league campaign and the manager is already under severe pressure and scrutiny from the supporters and the media alike. I think (hope) he'll get at least until the end of the season but if results dont start going our way before January then I think the board will seriously consider replacing him and the failures in the transfer market will be the top reason they'll give him, as they did with Kenny.

So who are the realistic targets we could get in January?

Ricky Wolfswinkel? Alan Dzagoev? Andre Schurrle? Andriy Yarmolenko?

we might not need to if borini starts bagging them and morgan or pacheco steps up.  even the new lad yesil looks a good prospect.

i dont think morgan will make it, his allround game wasnt great in the reserves never mind the top level, he knows where the net is but you need more than that at the highest level, he`s neil mellor mark II imo.
the one for me that has the ability to come into the side and hold his own in the prem is suso. that lad is a gifted footballer. if he signs a new contract (he`s free to talk to other clubs in january) i think he will eventually replace gerrard as our attacking midfielder.

Agree mate,  Morgan struggled to get regular starts in the reserves last season, we normally played Ngoo up top with Adorjan playing behind him.  His game outside the box just isn't good enough and like you I just can't see him makiing it,although I'd love to be proved wrong.

Suso has talent no doubt but the contract situation is worrying.  If we're going to throw a reserve striker into the mix then this new lad Yesel could be worth a punt or even Ngoo before Morgan.

I do wonder whether Rodgers' public praise for Morgan was a bit of a ploy to get onside of the supporters, it's always goos to see a local lad get a shot in the first team after all and one of Rodgers' stregths I think is PR!

Less posts from you please WUM

And don't ask BR for more transfers, it's the ones in charge that sign the cheques.
