Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers appoints fourth ex-Swansea City colleague to new backroom staff

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has returned to his old club Swansea City to appoint a fourth former colleague to his backroom staff at Anfield.

Former Swansea head of sports science Ryland Morgans joins analyst Chris Davies, performance consultant Glen Driscoll and assistant Colin Pascoe in following Rodgers from the Liberty Stadium to Merseyside.

Morgans, who has also performed the role of fitness coach for Wales under both Gary Speed and Chris Coleman, decided to leave the South Wales side to "develop his career elsewhere".

Photographs showed Morgans taking training on Wednesday at Liverpool's practice ground, Melwood, having parted ways with the Swans on Friday. He replaces former head of conditioning and fitness Darren Burgess, who left his post just over a week ago.

The exodus from Swansea to Liverpool also includes midfielder Joe Allen, who signed for an undisclosed fee in the summer transfer window.

Got to say I feel a bit sorry for Swansea, the agreement was he hired their manager, not raped their structure.

Sounds as though there's no one left now from the Rafa, Woy or Kenny eras? Wonder what happened with this Burgess fella?

i`m sure i`ve read somewhere that burgess has gone back to australia to be the head of fitness at an aussie rules team.
he could have stayed at anfield if he wanted to but the new fella rodgers has brought in would have been his boss and he wasnt interested in that situation.
