I really wanted Carroll to be a success here, and now that's not going to happen. Really would've liked to see Carroll really given a go. It doesn't make sense to me this move, and it won't until I see who else comes in.

Suarez, Borini, Morgan, Sterling, Downing? Nah, we now need two more players comfortable up front (anywhere along the top three), before I'm happy with our business this season.

I wonder whether with Carroll's wages off the book FSG will loosen the purse strings a bit and give Rodgers a little more to play with?

very disapointed to hear he is gone as I thought he was unlucky from the start with injuries, big fee, lack of form/confidence and then when I feel he is coming good we get rid. Wish him the best, good luck

Hope (and expect) Andy does well at WHU.

He was never a Liverpool player. It was a shocking signing by Kenny and the best thing to do is to correct a mistake rather than persist with it. There is no doubt that Andy excells when the ball is played in the air... a midtable method of play.

Carroll is a fish out of water in a pass and move system, and Suarez looked half the player when the big geordie was up alongside him. As well as his previous knowlegde of him, Rodgers will have had a good look at Andy in training.. Its there where the pass and move methodology is honed.

Good luck to the lad, Big Sam will suit him perfectly.

I think you're right, which could be good or bad.  The original agreed fee was 19 I think, and I'd heard 17 for the new deal, but it seems maybe there's no agreement, which personally I prefer.

"The 23-year-old has moved to the Boleyn Ground from Liverpool for the remainder of the 2012/13 Barclays Premier League campaign, with the Hammers having the option to complete a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee next summer."

I totally agree with this. I was always on Carroll's back last season, but then he came good, even if it was a bit late. I hope Brendan has a new forward lined up because the names mentioned up front here will result in another season of loads of pressure and loads of missed chances.

Shame as I thought he could have been a useful player for us this year. He's shown considerable promise since the end of last season when he finally began to show that he wasn't just a big disinterested immobile lump, but could actually play a bit and really cause defenders problems when up for it and given proper service. He obviously wasn't £35m good -- few players are -- but that doesn't mean he couldn't have been a useful option in the squad, someone totally unlike anything else we have who's capable of posing defenders a completely different kind of threat. That's an option we could very well miss against some of the hardier teams we play this season and it's even more of a concern given our lack of striking options. Who knows whether plan 'B' could also have become plan 'A' if he was really making his mark.

Having said all that, I hope he does well at West Ham as that can only be good for his value and for us whether we choose to sell or take him back.

Pity really and I don't entirely agree that his game is based solely on his height. He can play a bit on the floor as he proved at Newcastle and as he has shown for Liverpool last season and the year before.

I suspect he will be sold though next summer it looks inevitable.

What a f.uckin shame this hasn't worked out.

This proves too me Brendan has B.*ll*c*ks, to openly tell the world and our owners that he wants rid of a player that the owners had paid 35 mill in hard cash shows that the project he has undertaken will be done HIS way and only his way.

As someone already said, in hindsight Carroll was never a Liverpool player, never mind a 35 mill Liverpool player, I can only describe the Carroll deal from Newcastle as being desperately hungry, popping into a cafe and paying £100-00 for a sausage sandwich because they were closing in 5 minutes.

Unless we get a striker signed today ,that has got to be one of the silly moves one can do considering our current strikers situation. Suarez is clinical as 1ton bomb ,Borini is yet to impress and Sterling is work in progress...So why would we release Big Andy? Strange to say the least.

Hopefully Agger isn't next.

It was a signing to demonstrate a signal of intent and is one that the owners have to accept their share of blame over.

I'm disappointed that Carroll wasn't a success here, but that's life, not everything will go your way. Hopefully Andy will have a good season with West Ham and hopefully someone will sign him next summer. I'll be disappointed to see the fella go, as I feel he has what it takes to succeed at this club, but I'll respect the manager's wishes as I always do, even if I disagree with some of them. Best of luck for the future Big Andy.
