Sounds like a great deal at only 3 mill or do, but let's see how he looks. If he isn't good enough to play regularly in the first team, then is he just going to take game time from the likes of Sterling. If so, then it is probably a bad move, despite the low price and possible profit made selling him on.

Still, we are hardly blest with a plethora of wide men so am I worried about nothing?

Narsingh and Dost went for around £4m and £6m to PSV and Wolfsburg respectively. Assaidi (I hate to admit) is definitely the lesser of that trio and a £3m deal sounds just about right. It is very likely that he may have wanted to leave given the other departures, thereby making it a lot easier for us to negotiate.

Ethanr, Heerenveen were NOT relegated last season. They finished 5th, just 6 points from a CL qualification spot (2nd in the dutch league).

I assume you were simply joking with Reg earlier  :eyebrow

People are getting carried away, nobody knows anything about this fella to be passing 'this is a great signing' and other such comments. For £2m-£3m you can't really complain and he'll come into the club with no real weight of expectation on his shoulders because he doesn't have a mammoth price-tag draped over his shoulders. If it doesn't work out, not many people are going to go ape because he cost such a miniscule amount of money unlike Carroll, Downing and Henderson who have the massive burden of a huge price-tag on their shoulders.

I'm looking forward to having him here, hopefully he'll offer the creative spark in midfield that we desperately need.

Sorry Box, you may not follow leagues around in the world - but some of us do and have seen a lot of these players that come into the EPL, play on a regular basis with their original teams. You'd be surprised as to how many games from all over the world are available live or with 15 sec delays on betfair, espn and a whole host of channels on the net.

I agree with you that there is no downside on a £3m deal as he does have technical ability. But we won't be seeing a lot of him early in the season as he will definitely struggle with the pace and strength of the EPL and defensive contribution off the ball that BR will require of him. It's really just down to how much he wants to develop further.

I watch Serie A and La Liga and even I wouldn't claim to know much about those leagues. This is the problem with a majority of football supporters, everyone's a scout, everyone's an expert manager. I can guarantee that a large percentage of our fan base have never heard of this fella, I'm one of those people. So I'm just going to wait and see how he develops before I start singing his praises.

No-one is claiming expertise, but at the same time, just because you don't know doesn't mean that others don't. Some of us are comfortable enough to pass opinion based on what we have seen on a consistent basis  :)

I take your point that a majority of supporters may not know much about footballers outside their own teams and can be easily drawn into comments from the media or other sources.

I'm right though aren't I? We could sign someone from Outer Mongolia and someone on some Liverpool forum would be claiming to have watched him play on television and would be calling him a 'surprise package', a 'great signing'. It's ridiculous, just let the guy come in and play and show us what he's got. The same people building him up will be the same people knocking him down again in a few months time (if he's found floundering about the play like a fish out of water). Have you ever seen him play?

I know that my friend, there will be certain supporters who have seen him play multiple times, we have supporters from the Netherlands who will have seen him play over the last four years, so they'll know what he's about. But let's face it, how many people from outside of the Netherlands watch the Dutch Eredivisie? I watch plenty of Serie A, but even I won't claim to know much about Gaston Ramirez.

No harm in getting excited a transfer really and I think the type of player he is plays a big part in that
given he looks to have a trick or two and have a right go at people.

Not had many edge of the seat types in recent years so despite being unknown hes an interesting purchase
for us.

Risk free signing of a potential bargain of the season...

Say no more.. He may be great, he may suck *****. The more likely is that he will turn out to be a decent squad player.
