Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

Carroll and Allardyce supposedly share the same agent. You would think that Allardyce has information from his agent that Carroll is interested in a move before West Ham approached us. This one could have legs.

the next myth is he cant play in a high intensity pressing game, he works as hard as any forward in the game, for england there was only scott parker and steven gerrard that covered more distance than him and whatsmore he tracked back and won more possession back for england than the supposedly more `mobile` rooney and wellbeck. infact tracking back and catching opposition defenders and midfielders dawdling on the ball was starting to turn into one of the features of his game.
during the euro`s even neutral fans were ringing into phone in`s saying carroll did more against italy in half an hour than rooney and wellbeck did together the whole game. rodgers doesnt have to worry about carrolls work rate or pressing game, thats what carroll loves to do, he loves to get in there and get into centre halves faces, he loves to ruffle their feathers, wether it`s john terry, skrtel, soto, jagielka or whoever he`s all over them like a rash.
i wouldnt sell him i`d play him

Well it seems what you see in him and what I see in him is very different. I was watching a replay against everton where I think he and Suarez scored. There was a move where Suarez was carrying the ball and Carroll was on the shoulder of the last defender. All Carroll needed to do was turn and race past his defender, who was back-pedalling, which alot of out and out strikers like Owen, fowler, Torres would have done 10 times out of 10. Suarez was ready to give the through ball and waited a couple of seconds. Carroll instead of doing the above, pointed at our winger asking Suarez to pass to the winger. Meaning he wanted a cross in instead. I just shook my head, here's a striker that doesn't have quickness, acceleration and most of all game intelligence... Yes, he may run alot, but his movements are like a tank. It doesn't matter whether he's the best at holding the ball, which I don't think he is anyway, it's not effective if he doesn't know how to turn with the ball. Most important at all, he doesn't have the striker's instinct, he doesn't have the striker's movement off the ball. He's a dull, unintelligent (in terms of football IQ) battering ram type of player...

That would be awesome, i think we might be able to tell what ahead for Andy by the way he plays tonight. An unhappy Carroll wont be hard to spot. I hope he goes out to poive Brandon wrong and smashes spurs.

@GoalUK: Rodgers on Carroll: "He can fit into how I want to play, and he's happy here. I'm certainly not wishing to push him out of the door." #LFC

There was a caller at the end of the phone in tonight on LFCTV (who is usually calling in on every phone in during the season) who said that most Liverpool fans he speaks to think that the Carroll move hasn't worked out, he's not a Liverpool player and the fans expect him to leave.

Why didn't he start him tonight then against Tottenham? It sounds like the club are trying to get Newcastle up to £20 million as soon as they can particularly with the Europa squad being announced in the next few days.

Rodgers is doing everything he can to make this into a win win whatever happens. The odds still look to me like Carroll will go before the end of the window though I'll obviously be happy if the manger decides to reject all bids for him.

He wont go unless we receive a bid close to £20m and I dont think anyone
will pay it so he will no doubt remain a Liverpool player.

I reckon we tried to cash in and cut him loose on the back of his Euro form
and re invest, but its not come off for Rodgers so he will have to use the lad
and bide his time short of a surprise turn of events in the next few weeks.

Could potentially hamper a deal we had lined up resting on Carrolls departure
but thats football and who knows it may work out for the best.

I am in tears of laughter when i read Thommos posts.

Anyway i think and hope he will stay he is a real talent given the oppurtunity. He settled late but now he has atleast give him next season to show what he has got.
