Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

personally, i think the guy is waiting until pre-season where he can get a proper look at the squad. Who knows, maybe he can transform some of our dross into good players.

Rodgers may think he needs time to impose his ideas and way of playing.  Whats the best way to buy time in modern football? Dont waste money. How do you guarantee you dont waste it? Dont spend any.  Maybe he won't. Most likely though i agree he probably just wants to get the players in and assess them but i expect he'll buy in a couple.  Only trouble with that is it'll be a while until full squad back in training due to euros so the season will be upon him by the time he gets a good look at anyone.  Interesting times.

I didn't see Aquilani in the first preseason meet photographs. What a complete idiot. The guy should at least give it a shot and see if things can work out with Liverpool. He did sign a contract after all but he's been nothing other than a complete pain in the *****. He hasn't been playing for Milan for a while now and didn't go to the Euros so I don't see why he couldn't show up for the first meeting with the manager. No commitment whatsoever. P*sses me off.

We live in a free speech society. Using "B-Rod" is fine by me, but by using such a gay expression you will open yourself to mocking, torment and bumsex.

Rodgers: Fight for Liverpool or leave

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the "fantastic" attitude of Luis Suarez, but warned the rest of his squad that they can leave if they do not want to fight for Champions League football next season.

Rodgers recently revealed a chat he had held with Suarez, who has been linked with a move away from Anfield in search of top-tier European football. The Liverpool boss claimed his Uruguayan forward had agreed to stay, much to the relief of Reds fans.

Having held his first official team meeting on Wednesday, Rodgers must now set about stamping his personality on the Liverpool squad. Known as a manager who encourages passing football, Rodgers will no doubt relish working with a player of Suarez's talent, and he reiterated the exemplary attitude of the South American forward.

"The focus was on the future, and what I believe he can bring to the team in the way that we play," Rodgers told Sky Sports News, regarding his recent chat with Suarez. "He was fantastic, he was very open, and I think he was impressed by how we played last year."

Previously linked to big-spending Paris St Germain, the fear remains that Suarez could be tempted should a big-money offer arrive at Anfield. Rodgers is not losing sleep over the issue though, insisting the entire Liverpool squad can either believe in his vision or seek football elsewhere.

"You can only sell the dream going forward," Rodgers said. "There's a lot of nostalgia surrounding this club, but it's important that we recognise this is 2012 and we're not in the Champions League.

"The top players want to play at that level. Steven Gerrard wants to play at that level, Jamie Carragher, they're players who have won it.

"In the coming years we'll strive towards that. If that's not enough for a player, then they will go, simple as that."

This explains why Sigurdsson wasn't pursued with any real vigour ,Rodgers was looking for a statement of intent and a passion for the club and he provided
neither ,Rodgers has a clear blueprint for this club and its clear that unless you show 100% commitment then you will be shown the door ,quicker than John
Terry finds a photo opportunity .... Brendan Rodgers not only chooses the right words he chooses the right players . :buttrock

Sounds good but its a pretty standardized statement from a new manager. I've stopped listening to these kinds of statements long ago. I'll believe it when I see it.
