Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Alex Ferguson signed Shinji Kagawa because he wanted Park Ji Sung to feel less home sick. He told Park "See Ji Sung, I told you i'll get you a mate from your country so that you won't feel so lonely. Now you two can speak Chinese to each other..."

Like Carroll, Downing and Henderson?

We have also in recent years bought a few players that had success in other leagues.  Aquilani, Miereles, Suarez, Poulsen, Maxi, Again, hit and miss.

I dont know if you followed their careers before they joined liverpool, but we got pretty much exactly what we could expect from these players.

The bottom line is that there is nothing wrong with a philosophy of buying young emerging players and hoping they realize their potential.  You just have to find the right ones.  It's going to be hit and miss, as is all areas aspects of the transfer market.  I happen to think that it is the best philosophy to have for a club of our position

Every transfer is gamble but I think we need a mix of young and established players to move the club forward.

we are being heavily linked with that kalou from chelsea, even the echo are reporting it so there`s a fair chance it`s true, apparently we are in a battle with schalke for his signiture.
hope schalke win the battle tbh.
i can see the logic in trying to sign the up and coming stars of the future like this gylfi fella and that clasie from feyenoord but to sign average prem players on bosmans while the likes of united are being linked with modric and lewandoski (or whatever his name is) and chelsea are signing hazard, hulk and marin is just basically waving the white flag imo.

The media haven't got an igloo who we're interested in ,and I'm loving it mate .... I have a sneaky feeling the owners in regards to new additions
know they need to recruit quality to make a statement of intent .

Clint Dempsey just isn't the answer he might have got 18 goals at Fulham last season I suspect he wouldn't get half that amount in the premiership for Liverpool.

Clarence Seedorf is available on a free transfer after he decided to leave AC Milan. Surely he is worth looking at on a short term contract? Bags of experience, proven ability at the highest level, great passing range, excellent work rate, etc. He would be the perfect central midfield partner for Lucus. If he was willing to take a 1 year contract with the option of a second I’d take him without hesitation.
