Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

My tea leaves this morning said B-Rog's promised us a top 4 finish, fa cup winners and a hole in one on the 17th at this years' Open. So far so good.

Just a wee bit of fun to alleviate some of the ridiculous derailing of this thread .. :D

Wondering what will happen if results don't go his way up to xmas.

What will the fans/ board be thinking then?

I'm very much praying we will see this attacking, pressing football that he is promising.

I don't know how a lot of you can be hugely optimistic, when he has NO record of management whatsoever of note, to prepare for such huge pressure, that he will get in this job. Reading, Watford, Chelsea reserves....etc  etc. :( Rod Hodgson has more exp than this guy!

Swansea lost more than they won last term. Lets get that straight. His attacking tactics then, leave a lot to be desired, no?

At lease Rafa got to TWO CL finals, and a second place in the prem.
I would have voted for Rafa for this job myself, as he probably has more player "connections" than rodgers does (I.E. Spain)

A lot of LFC legends are having raised eyebrows at his appointment and still think it's risky.

I will give him a slight chance only in this job..... see what happens with the results, but I fear another "Woy" situation and a witch hunt if results don't go for him. He may not have the Dressing room.

I think still......BIG RISK.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

That could happen whoever was appointed, even Rafa, yes two CL finals but the last was 5 years ago and a lots changed since then, i'm looking forward to his style of football, the style we used to play, not the negative tactics we have seen over the past 15 years. none of that has won us the league so why would you want to take us backwards.

Who do you mean? Lawrenson for example is that because the owners sacked Kenny? I am surprised.

There are numerous quotes that have been posted on here today from ex players like Alan Kennedy, Fairclough, Barnes and Aldridge all in support of this appointment.

Also on Rafa's connections do you mean? More players like Nunez, Morientes, Josemi and Gonzalez? No thanks that kind of quality we can well do without again. As for Rafa's time at Liverpool it was his counter attacking tactics of passing it side to side and back to to Reina all the time that led the team down the road of little creativity and the problems that followed under Hodgson and Kenny. Rodgers Swansea team play football with tempo, movement and penetration.

Time to move on to the future with someone who has actually been managing in the premiership.

Perhaps he'd just heard about the appointment and was giving his initial reaction.

Are you going to say 'told you so' if it goes wrong?

Supposing Rafa had said no because he'd had a better offer, Klopp, Hiddink, Capello, De Boer, Deschamps, Ancelotti, Villas-Boas and Rijkaard all said no? What should the owners have done then?

You'd rather have Roy cos he has more experience? Or you think Rodgers will do worse because he has less experience? What was the purpose of your reference to Roy?
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

rodgers will get time, the fans like him and his philosophy on how the game should be played. thats all the fans want. liverpool fans are not afraid of bad times, we`ve been through enough of them, but they have got to believe that the manager and his vision is worth backing.
to be fair to rodgers he managed to do that in about 20 minutes on friday morning.
