Next to Holloway Brendan Rodgers must be the best manager Liverpool could have hired from Charlie Adams perspective. Pressing high meaning he'll be giving permission to run about like a headless chicken, and being in a team that will constantly look for incisive passes will free him up to overhit twenty through balls a game which we know hes more than capable of  :D

The massive debt is still there though and they will need to sort it out sooner rather than later

The mancs are 1 billion in debt roughly - all against the club - I hope we aren't going to be run like them

They're nowhere near that much in debt, according to the last set of figures they were roughly between £700m-£800m worth of debt and is the debt at United in down to Glazers own financial problems? United despite this heavy debt and daily payments of a reported £250,000 a day are actually still making profits each year. The Glazers are estimated to be $1.1bn in debt. United minus the debt are continuing to make money, United is a football club that generates its own revenue for transfers etc which means that Ferguson always has money to spend and is able to have United challenging at the top of the league.

Since the Glazers took over in 2005 and heaped such high debt on United. United have managed to win 4 league titles, 3 league cups, 4 community shields, 1 European cup, 1 Fifa club world cup. That's 13 pieces of silverware in 7 years.

The United business model minus the debt is the way a club is run successfully over the long-term. That's what FSG are going to do, they are going to ensure that the structures are put in place that mean Liverpool football club is self-sufficient, so that it can have the sustainability needed to enjoy long-term success.

Chelsea and City's model is simple, spend, spend, spend and spend some more.

The Community shield isnt a recognized competition - its a bloody friendly! And Id personally class £800m as pretty damn close to £1billion

Give him until Christmas? Do you seriously think that 4 months is enough time for him to turn things around? The only reason I got on Kenny's back last season was purely the fact he completely changed the starting 11 in the summer with the introductions of Adam, Downing and Henderson and froze out players like Maxi and Kuyt as well as loaning out Aquilani and selling Meireles, instead of making minor tweaks to what was a very good attacking side that smashed the likes of Birmingham and Fulham to bits. Kenny clearly wanted to rubber stamp his own mark on the team and by doing that it proved detrimental to the team as we went from beating teams like Fulham 5-2 to losing to teams like Fulham 1-0. Still I'd have given Kenny another season. Rodgers won't walk in here and change things overnight, four months is far too short of time period. Then again with 'supporters' like yourself, it's all instant, instant, instant.

Rodgers will have to show improvement next season, if we go from 8th to 5th and finish several points behind 4th place that will progression in my opinion. Though no doubt supporters like yourself will be calling for the managers head.

Headless chicken? Not under Rodgers he won't be, Rodgers likes to play the pressing game in zonal areas. Each player on the pitch has a zone to close down the opposition. Adam will need to exercise the art of tactical discipline, but as for him running? Can't really see it. Mind you when he ran at Ferdinand, Ferdinand looked quite scared, that might be a useful tactic for next season, who knows?

Benny he runs plenty lad, hes just not quick. In fact his willingness to forget his positional awareness and charge twenty yards up the pitch for a ridiculous solo run or a hail mary two footed lunge that is a consistent reason we got counter attacked so ofter when he's in the side. Hes also the worst tackler in the premier league. Worse that Scholes.

Quite, but you miss the point. United's money comes from winning competitions, their stadium and their marketing sector. United have turned themselves into a global brand name. What this has enabled them to do is constantly and consistently remain the top team in England for twenty years and one of the largest in Europe. Ferguson always has money to spend. He might not have the same amount that Chelsea and City have, but that won't stop United from challenging for major honours.

13 pieces of silverware in 7 years including 1 European Cup and 4 league titles. That says everything and United could have and should have made it 5 league titles. They threw last season's title away against Everton. As for £800m being close to £1bn. Their debts will never reach such heights as Glazers apparently wants put between 25-30% of their shares on the Singapore Stock Exchange with the aim of raising £600m for the club. This would raise United's total worth to an estimated £2.5bn.

United's debt would then fall to around £200m which is virtually nothing to a club of United's wealth and would still enable them to purchase players and consistently challenge and win honours.

Please Boxcarf, read my thread again, I said judge him by Christmas at the EARLIEST, that means I may or may not judge him in 4 months.

You are wrong, I won't be demanding Rodgers' head if we finish 5th or 6th. In fact if you had read one of me earlier threads, I would be happy if we finish 5th or 6th and have narrowed down the gulf of 37 points between us and 1st place. So good luck to Rodgers and I hope he can move Lvp up the PL position next May.

Don't know a thing about this fellow to be honest (watching Swansea was never a priority of mine :) ) and I was hoping for a Rafa return.  With that said, the reports I've read about Rodgers' tactical nous are encouraging and the owners clearly rate him as their man, which I hope translates into proper backing in the transfer market and a reasonable amount of patience while he gets things set up his way.  Good luck and welcome aboard Brendan. :nod
