what are you on about? i like everyone else have an opinion on who should be the manager of this club, i didnt want rodgers or martinez simply because imo they dont have the experience or the the CV of a liverpool manager, rodgers has managed 1 season in the top flight.
i never said they were $h1te i just said it was too early for them, i said they should go to an everton or a villa first.
obviously the board thought different and i can see why, he is a very impressive character.
as i said his press conference wasnt just good it was almost shankly-esque, he didnt promise anyone anything apart from he will fight with his life for this club and this city and the principles they stand for. thats what people up hear want to hear, we dont want people promising us the earth and we dont want to hear people telling us how special they think they are, we just want someone who says i will give everything for the club. he did that.

Well on that basis you would presumably have been annoyed at the appointments of Shankley, Paisley and Fagan back in the day, as they didn't have great cv's either before managing Liverpool!
I think Brendan Rodgers is exactly what we need, a bright young manager with fresh ideas who also happens to be charismatic. He'll get the best out of the players we've got and hopefully make some great signings to add to the squad. All of this combines with the exciting young players we have coming through the academt makes me very very excited for next few seasons.

Bright ideas but at the foundation of it is the liverpool way - pass and move so you control the game. Isn't that how we dominated the 70's and 80's????

no because when bill shankly arrived we were not only a second division club we had been a second division club for 6 years. if it wasnt for billy liddell we would have probably went down another division too, he scored nearly 30 goals one season when we were flirting with relegation to the old 3rd division, we werent the 5 times champions of europe back then. the top teams at the time like the wolves and manchester united`s werent looking at shankly.
when paisley got the job he was the natural successor to shankly and had been at the club since before the second world war, paisley started his anfield career  alongside the likes of matt busby and george kay and finished it with the likes of steve nicol, he bridged over half a century at the club and no one knew more about the club than he did and probably never will. joe was the same, he wasnt here as long as bob but he was here before shanks.
bob and joe`s CV`s were decades and decades and decades of working at the club.

Heimdall - what the fk are you talking about when you say that Paisley didn't have an impressive CV when he took over from Shanks as manager. You do come out with some absolute sh.ite but that's got to top the list. What do you think Bob was doing for gawd knows how many years before he was manager? Show some respect for heavens sake. He was second in command to a genius and helped to map out Liverpool's glory years.

You can tell he means in terms of managing a club and trophies so no point in getting all
hight and mighty about it really.

Rodgers has his shot at the big time so lets all hope he can take it and get us moving forward
and hopefully quicker than we expect.

Bottom line is Rodgers has to get this team going pretty quickly and show people he has what
it takes to do the job, hes got 3 years but truth be told will be out if we dont move forward
at a reasonable rate this year.

We can dress it up and use words like projects and long term but its all BS when its winter, we
are ***** off and sick of losing. Then the gloves come off.

Football is cruel now, harsh, and Rodgers will be well aware of it.

There was little room for doubt ,because the man just sounds an holds himself like an absolute class act ,prompting and dare we say resurrecting such terms as faith and belief ... Brendan Rodgers looks every inch a Liverpool manager ,and I have no doubt he will start to amass many disciples who crave total football and simply want to follow a manager who displays quality as readily as one of our famous banners ...

bob paisley first walked through the gates at anfield not that long after the hindenburg airship disaster and he inherited the managers job from bill shankly 5 years after neil armstrong walked on the moon, i think he served his time at this club alright. no one, shanks included, knew more about this club than bob paisley and no one ever will. people go on about alex fergusons longevity at united, paisley`s time at liverpool is over double that.
a great, great man and still the only manager ever to win 3 european cups.

Go on Brendan lad!
