i agree mate, his arrogance and all that `i`m the special one` malarky might strike a chord with the press and all the people down south but it would go down like a lead balloon here in liverpool.

By the time we beat Utd home and away Maureen would be a firm favourite. We need a strong character for the job and he's upto it.

we might think that but our owners would take the 2 year challanging route.

what is he 34 or 35 or something? it`s not going to work imo.
he`s the one manager that cant afford a bad start, because of what happened at chelsea if we start shipping goals early on everyone will be saying he`s out of his depth in this country and his tactics dont work in a competative league.
the pressure will be tremendous.

if they make AVB manager we'll be done before we've started, that man needs to manage as far from england as possible for his next job

Rafa's a good shout, at the very least we'd be in the top 4 with rafa in charge

lambert, martinez, rodgers are all non-runners imo, they're not good enough for the big jobs yet

rijkaard, kilinsmann, pep would all be great appointments too, born winners and have shown it in management before

Please god not AVB though...

Shame about steve clarke also, he got the defence sorted big time this year, agger and skrtel were aces all season

I hope the defence have kept some of their learning from Steve. Thanks to him for everything he's done, great that loyalty is not completely dead in football as well.

Can I just ask what has Klinsmann achieved in management? I haven't even remotely followed his career  :D

AVB fits in pefectly with the way FSG like to set up their  businesses.  They alwasys have a young team manager with an older Director sitting above.

I dont think it would be a bad appointment, lets be honest, the Chelsea team must be a managers worst nightmare when you have players like Terry, Lampard and Drogba who thinks they are the real manager.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

if he couldnt handle the pressure at chelsea he wont handle it here, he`ll be the manager though, thats why clarke is still here because they`ve worked together before.
so we got rid of dalglish for a 35 year old who has done f**k all in a big league? he`ll better hope that we get off to a good start because after what happened to him at chelsea there`s no way the fans wont be asking if he`s cut out to manage in england if we start shipping goals early on.
apparently he didnt get on with torres either, torres is still pally with a few of our players so they`ve probably got a low opinion of him from the outset.
at 34/35 it`s hard to command the respect of players only a few years younger than you, especially when you werent a player yourself.
we`ll be looking for a new manager by about february i reckon.

I've always felt AVB was a really decent manager.  He couldn't get the players at chelsea on his side, so the club fell apart.  If he comes here and brings in a few players, plus the players that will be fighting for the spots here, I think he'll have no problem controlling the club. Look at the way some of the players have reacted from being benched.  Carra has just said he needs to keep working and try to fight his way into the lineup.  Kuyt has said he's sad he didn't play much, but hasn't caused any problems with it.  Most just keep their mouth shut.  AVB won't be afraid to sit the likes of Hendo, Downing and Adam as well.

Liverpool aren't chelsea, we don't have players that show absolutely no respect to the managers and who expect to run the club.  He wouldn't have the same problems here, and I think he could be a success.

top players who have seen and done everything dont like taking orders from someone their own age, it`s just natural.
especially when that someone couldnt kick a ball straight himself, whats the reaction going to be in the dressing room when AVB tries to slate gerrard for missing a chance or agger for not marking someone? the reaction will be the same as what happened in the chelsea dressing room.
dont forget it wasnt just terry and lampard who fell out with him, it was the likes of torres too and apparently he`s laid back and easy going.
AVB is just too close in age to the players to garner instant respect at the moment, he should have stayed in the likes of portugal until he was 40+ then tried his hand in a big league.

This is not entirely true. They hired bobby valentine as the manager for their baseball team whom is a veteran. As for the director, FSG likes someone who is young and can think out of the box. So, I think they will be looking at someone in the mode of Rafa. I'm not sure if that is a good idea but based on the proposed list, Rafa seems to get the least resistance from fans.
