Odds=Checker Next Liverpool Manager

Some very dubious nominees there, especially at the favourite end of things, such as Martinez  :grinning: , AVB  :help  (God help us)

Rafa is generally 2nd Favourite at around 6/1. Unfinished business he would like to think, as there was a rot in the club with those previous US muppets. Maybe he could compile a new sqwad with some Kwality. One thing is for sure though, Kuyt would be going nowhere, which is a bad thing imo.

David Moyes 40/1??? I know some on here would hate that, but hes performed miracles with this years best team on Mersyside.

Ancelloti at 33/1. Doesnt fit the young vibrant type that Fenway are looking for.

Capello 12/1.. Again, old, but he'd have a world view and good clout of the game.

Steven gerrard 66/1.. Young and vibrant, but an unknown...

Take your pick.

i dont think we can afford to take a gamble on an unproven manager, at the moment we still have some quality players at the club but if we bring in a martinez or a lambert and it goes wrong early on i can see players thinking maybe this club may never return to the big time.
i`ve said it in another thread but for me it has to be benitez, he`s knows the pressure of managing the club and he may not win us the league (he may do though!) but you can bet your bottom dollar that he will make us hard to beat and we will be there or thereabouts the CL places.
i think rafa is just about the only name that is guarentee`d to improve us and at the moment thats what we need, no way does a benitez side lose 14 games in the league. if he had wolves they wouldnt lose that many, he`s too tactically astute for that.
go for rafa.

Bermenstein, your back, where you been ?

Hmmm, not keen on the names mentioned apart from SG.  SG to be the manager in a few years. Needs to take is badges first (if he hasn't been already- think the badges are an FA stipulation), he then needs to come in as an assistant to a top quality manager.

I think though, FSG probably have about 3 maybe 4 name on their list, potentially Rafa being one of them.  This one is really hard to call.....we'll have to wait and see, but lets hope they at quickly to bring in a top notcch manager.

Villlas-Boas's odds shortening from 5/1 to 3/1(Paddypower). He could be another Brian Clough in the making. In comparison to AVB at Chelsea, Clough went to Leeds and had a disaster with rebelious players, but then going to Forrest and , well the rest is History. He'll soon be the fav.

Also Frank Rijkaard is Shortening too from 16/1 to 10/1 (Paddypower). He set the whhels in motion for Guardiola at Barca.

the difference was clough had already proven himself in this country, he won the title at derby and took them to the european cup semi final.
AVB would be a risky shout, the same players that were shipping goals left right and centre under him are now in the CL final.
managing in england is not the same as managing in portugal, he hasnt even won anything in spain, italy or germany.

lots of places running with AVB, they were already touting themselves as fans of his but after his stint with Chelsea I'm not convinced. I don't really wanna be watching a guy crouched down on our touchline. He always looks and sounds like he's just got out of bed as well

Hopefully that dreamer Carragher now realises he wouldn't last 10 minutes in the job and any notion of SG is worse than naive.

Knowing Fenway AVB or Rijkaard would be high on the list.

This time last year AVB was the hottest property in World football until
he ran into Abramovich and lets face it a host of top class managers have met
with their maker there so I wouldnt judge him on that.

We have a reasonably young team bar a couple so it wouldnt and shouldnt be
an issue with AVB, plus he has a point to prove.

Either AVB or Rijkaard would do me like with the latter a big enough name big
enough and young enough to be attractive to top young players.

Liverpool's owners are keen for the club's new manager to be in place for at least four to five years, but there is no front-runner at this stage.
Tom Werner and John W Henry have begun the search for the Reds' fourth boss in two years after sacking Kenny Dalglish and have a number of names in mind.
The new boss is likely to get a transfer budget of over £30m.
Intermediaries acting for the club have spoken with Andre Villas-Boas, but he is unlikely to get the job.
The Portuguese was sacked by Chelsea in March.
Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is also not thought to be in the running. The Americans are known to have been impressed by Wigan manager Roberto Martinez but no talks have taken place.
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has often spoken of his admiration for the Anfield club and it is thought he would be willing to grant the Spaniard permission to discuss the post with Henry and Werner.
Liverpool's owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) are keen to appoint a replacement at the earliest possible opportunity.
Dalglish left for Spain on a planned family holiday on Wednesday night. His wife Marina wrote on Twitter: "Really sad day for us a family but we all remain LFC fans. All so proud of Kenny."
On Wednesday, sources close to Henry were keen to stress the American owners do have a clear vision for the future of the club and are likely to appoint three senior directors in the coming weeks.
Meetings have been held with a number of potential directors of football, including Johan Cruyff and former Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain, while they have also spoken to at least one candidate to fill the chief executive's role.
Henry and Werner are also thought to be close to appointing a new director of communications to replace Ian Cotton.
While the departure of Dalglish has left something of a power vacuum at Anfield, FSG felt they had to act given Liverpool's failure to challenge for a Champions League qualifying place, a clear target at the start of the season.
Liverpool's most recent annual report revealed that the club's prolonged absence from the competition had cost the club a minimum of £30m in revenue each year.
While the owners were encouraged by the Carling Cup victory in February, the first silverware since 2006, it could not cover up the failings of a poor Premier League campaign.
Steve Clarke, Dalglish's assistant, has stepped down out of loyalty to the 61-year-old Scot.

Lol. 30million to spend ! That will draw in a world class manager

I didn't even realise that Steve Clarke had resigned but a quick google seems to confirm it, there's also a mention that Ian Ayre could be the next to leave.

If this true we've got hardly anybody left, they've got rid of DOF, DOC, lawyers, doctors, Kenny and now Steve Clarke and Ian Ayres look like they might be gone/going as well.

The suggestion is that FSG are lloking to make quick appointments for DOF, DOC and chief exec, followed up by the new manager.

If this is true, FSG must have been working on this for months and have the replacements already lined up, coming 8th just made it easier for them to give Kenny the chop.

There seems to be a lot more going on than we realise, who are advising FSG and do we have a team over in Boston planning all this ?

On Talksport they reckon that AVB has been over to Boston for talks with FSG and then flew on to Brasil to identify new players !
