New Boss - The Candidate Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Thommo's perm » Wed May 16, 2012 5:35 pm

Is history about to repeat itself and we bring in a wide-eyed, lower level, inexperienced yes man?
Deary me, why are we even discussing Martinez or Rodgers? Dont say we are getting rid of a legend who would probably turn it round to make way for someone who has battled relegation or one who has just been promoted? An experienced, respected, recognised winner has to be found right now. The owners have made the decision now they have to justify it by bringing someone better than KK, not someone who hasnt got a Fu*king clue.
If the players cant do it for Dalglish are they going to do it for such low ranking managers? Do us all a Fu*king huge favour and say a massive NOOOOOOOO! to even the thought of Matinez, never mind contemplating him for the job.

It looks like Rafa
If they are going to interview people, he ticks all the boxes

If they get Martinez in, I'd seriously consider jibbing it in the same manner I did when Hodgson was first announced.

No to Martinez, and who is Rogers?
if it is Rafa, i will quit football.
Capello possible? but no a long term solution
Hindink seem like a possible choice but close link to Abrav means he is not long term solution...
can they temp Pep? unlikely but anything can happen...
Steve Clark is another possibility..but he is inexperienced.

Martinez.................are we trying to get relegated?

Martinez is a survival manager, has spent his entire career in the bottom 6.

Will not be Martinez, FSG as an organisation are smart enough not to let inexperience dictate where there money goes.

Martinez's time will come. He's still got a couple of step ups to go before managing a side with winning tradition.

Is Martin O'Neil not worth a mention?

Hes in the bottom six because of what he has to work with, not because of the manager he is. Just because Hodgson failed here does not automatically mean that every lesser experienced manager will to. I wish people would get that into there f*cking heads.

Case in point:

what about 1 closer to home:

this isnt the time to gamble on unknown quantities, managing liverpool is a world away from managing a wigan or norwich, get someone back who has handled the pressure for 6 years.
benitez has won the spanish title twice, the uefa cup, the champions league, the f.a cup, the world club championship and the italian cup.
rafael benitez was a miracle worker, by rights we didnt have the money to compete with the chelsea`s, uniteds, barcelona`s and real madrids but rafa had us trading blows with those clubs toe to toe, every f**ker in europe dreaded drawing liverpool in the CL draw, mourinho had the riches of solomon backing him but twice rafa sent him packing in CL semi finals.
rafa didnt want billions to compete with the other big sides, he didnt even need parity, if they had more money that wasnt a problem, but to expect him to compete with hicks and gillette sending us backwards was a bridge too far for even him.
under rafa we beat barcelona, real madrid, inter milan, ac milan, juventus, man united, chelsea (when they were like man city)......infact it`s easier to list who we didnt beat. get him back.

Id second Rafa coming back. I think him and Stevie had a great connection. I think Suarez would take to him and he knows the club.
