Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Due to our recent relegation team form, I've lowered my expectation to that of a relegated club. I didn't even bother to watch the game. To me, beating Manure and Everton all the way to the final, the 2 teams we love to beat the most, yesterday's win was already the FA Cup trophy for me regardless whether we will go on to win the cup or not.

Please Reds, continue to win all your remaining games of the season, then Kenny might get the chance to keep his job.

Are you sure you are a Liverpool fan ?

Did you seriously decide not to watch an FA Cup Semi Final against the Bitters ?!?

I remember having a discussion with RBG sometime in the past about the perils of Kenny returning.
RBG had dire concerns about the current crop of fans turning on him if we didn't get instant results and I was convinced that the fans could never turn against the King.

I'm bitterly disappointed to say it but his fears were well founded. I cannot believe how he's getting treated by a portion of the fans on these boards.

His signings (and I believe that they WERE his) have not been all too great in terms of making an immediate impact but IMO, there is hope for the future.
Carroll will come good..... Hendo has potential despite misfiring so far (due to being played out of position) and will come good...... remember Lucas is all I can say.
The 2 that have been disappointing are Adams and Downing.

With Lucas back, watch for us next season. I don't think many people how important a role he has in the team.... not flash but effective like you wouldn't believe. We've missed him and Gerrard this season.

Just a quick point.  In total Kenny Dalglish has managed Liverpool for 6 full seasons (85-90 and current season) and has brought us to four F.A. Cup finals.  Thats a great record.  Compare to David Mpoyes who has managed Everton for 10 years and not won a thing but is idolised by the press !

Cheers mate.  :D

It's been a mad few months for me..... But I should have more time now that my new daughter (Rosemary) has started sleeping at nights. Yes, we've been blessed with another red addition to clan ConnO'var.

Kenny's interview by his daughter...

Thanks for that ,I enjoyed it ......provided some real insight ,especially when he admits he doesn't particularly like being in front of the
cameras and dealing with interviewers .

He came across as  an intelligent man who affords his team and his players patience .

lets face it kenny`s mind was made up in the 80`s about the press, he took the job on in the aftermath of heysel and he had to sit there in press conferences as the spokesperson for the biggest pariahs in the history of not just international football but international sport. he had to field questions not only from sports reporters but journalists who spent most of their time in the worlds trouble spots. the reporting after the hillsborough probably didnt help either, even  in the 80`s kenny was often lampooned in comedy sketches as the man who gave one word yes/no answers.
he doesnt like them and they dont really like him either, they probably respect his achievements in the game but dont like the fact he doesnt suck up to them or go out of his way to build a rapport with them.

Damn this Sh*t. Kenny must leave now so we can start building a new team.

Kenny/comoli has been a disaster for the club. The teamis broke. The solid foundation rattled. The future in jeopardy.

Kenny is not going to change, he is Kenny. Even when the situation was getting uglier, he still chased mid-table strikers like Defoe and Bent!!! And signed a needless defender for 10 million pounds, a guy barely worth 1 million when the team was crying fr a playmaker and another striker. Kenny is kenny.

The squad isn't good enough or clever enough with these one paced pedestrian tactics that give the opposition too much time to defend and rarely pull people out of position or stretch them. Also there's something strange about why the mentality for the cup games is so much better than for the league games.

The biggest single difference that could be made to this team right now in terms of the league games is if the team could score once in the first twenty minutes of every game. I don't know what the stats are in terms of the league but I suspect that most times when they have scored early on this season in any game they've usually won it.

Again... the methods are good, as we saw again today.

its the personnel. Not good enough.

Quality goalkeeper
Quality defence
Gerrard
Suarez

Thats it.

Four quality players short. Shearer said it... we have to address the striker issue and bring in quality.

It's amazing the people who come crawling out of the woodwork when we lose. The same people who hide beneath a rock when we win.
