Is it f*cking ***** - it is one of only 4 trophies teams can win and is highly regarded in our history.

It's typical of modern day fans to downgrade competitions

No one is asking for him to slate the team, but to say the stuff he is spouting is embarrassing

bill shankly often used to say things like his side was the best side in england, or the best side in europe, or the best side seen in this country since the war even when they werent.
dalglish obviously believes that the best way to get the team playing well is to try and instill some self confidence and belief in the players.
confidence is everything in footy, the players can all play, they wouldnt get anywhere near that level if they couldnt play footy, but it`s about having the ability to perform under pressure. some players struggle with it, and a lack of confidence will affect every player no matter how good he is at some stage of his career.
you look at bergkamp when he first arrived from italy, he was *****, he looked like he couldnt even trap the ball or complete a 5 yard pass, i remember hearing some of those psuedo intellectual footy journalists on the telly and radio saying the pressure of playing for inter when ac milan were the top side has ruined his game.
a few months later his confidence returned and he was brilliant, it was hard to believe it was the same player the difference in his performances were that great.
dalglish is not stupid, in his first spell at the club he was literally about 30 seconds away from 4 titles in 5 years, as it was in those 5 years he won the title 3 times and finished second the other two years, at blackburn he won the title and even at newcastle he finished 2nd, got them to their first cup final in a generation and even beat barcelona in the CL, dalglish wont be happy with whats going on, but the liverpool way set up by shankly is to keep everything in house and put a brave face on so the press who are anti liverpool anyway (and i`m not talking just about the club) and the likes of ferguson and allardyce dont get to enjoy the spectacle of their biggest rival tearing itself apart.
there`s probably fans from other clubs reading these boards at the moment and loving every minute of it, and there are people in the press who have dreamed about liverpool fans turning on dalglish for over a quarter of a century.

Im very optimistic that a change or two in the summer could really make us a very good side.   If we signed a good striker, a right winger and another CM in the Alonso mould we'd be doing ok.  I hope we keep the majority of our squad though, Adam is the only one I wouldn't mind going.

If we signed 3 quality players in them positions I think we'd be doing good.  We'd still have Europa League for Hendo, Shelvey, Coates, Kelly etc

Do you have faith that kenny would make the correct signings, becuase quite honestly I don't, mostly because kenny continues to play his flop purchases. henderson and Adam should not be any where near our starting XI, I would much rather see Shelvey given more games and Raheem sterling or suso on for henderson. That would show good management, the kind of progression of young talent which Fergie and Wenger are so excellent at.

Good one Reginald
It does however play into the hands of those who dont like us by undermining the trophy we have recently won
Maybe we shouldnt have taken part in the competition at all? Or sent our reserves out in the final because it is so ca'ck?

i think the owners will probably ditch the theory that new signings have to fit their moneyball criteria in the summer, even downing was signed because his stats were amazing apparently, stats in footy though are hard to quantify, just because you have a ton of assists doesnt neccessarily mean you created all the goals, they key pass that split the defence open could have been one or two passes before the actual `assist`, all an assist means is you were the last person to touch the ball before the goalscorer, gerrard and maxi probably got credited with assists against stoke.
same with the amount of crosses etc, load of baloney.

I was going to come on and offer some of my own comments last night ,but I had difficulty wading through all the used kleenex
from our biggest ,and evidently most spectacularly predictable fans .Whilst I feel for their apparent frustration ,I genuinely
despair at their obvious lack of patience, and their all consuming need to stick the boot in at the earliest opportunity available .

Contemptible! Now there's a word .

Reg isn't fickle, he is only worried about what's going on, but I disagree with him I think silverware is silverware no matter what is and Liverpool are born to win trophies

Yes lets stick with a system that clearly isn't working, mid-table obscurity here we come. I do not understand this philosophy if stickign with something that clearly doesn't work. If the team were improving week in week out then ok but we aren't and kenny is still picking the wrong players and why the hell we did not get a striker in on loan in January is completely beyond me, imagine if we'd have gotten Saha we'd be talking about 4th place now, I'm sure of it.

To strive for improvement is not contemptible to settle for mediocrity is.

Im not sure whether Kenny would make the correct signings but we have improved a lot this year and i think he deserves at least another season.  If we sack him, we'll have to appoint a new manager, new tactics etc and we'll probably have another transitional season.

Im as gutted as anyone at our league form but we've won a trophy this year, we'll be back in Europe at least next year and we could still lift the FA Cup.  Thats progress.  Its not as fast as i had hoped for but we've had a lot of issues with key players as well this year.  A fit squad with a couple of additions and we could be a very good side.

If its still not working out next season maybe then we'll need to think about changing.

I haven't had a tango in years!   :D

Gutted we didn't sign a striker in the Jan window. Think we could have had a genuine chance at top 4 this season had we at least signed another striker and that's still despite all the other weakness' in the squad.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.
