Gerrard had another poor game IMO and I really don't like watching him in the deeper role. I've advocated this in the past, for him to play deeper as the twilight of his career beckons. I think, looking at the performances against the Mancs and then yesterday's game I got that wrong, defensively/positionally I think he's found wanting.
Henderson was a disappointment again. Adam not much better and Downing good. Even though Carroll's improved a bit - his touch was good yesterday but his anticipation and movement is akin to a pub Sunday league player. Downing put in a few good crosses and he couldn't read them - he should if he's the spear head of attack. Suarez was disappointing, can't help but feel the s.hit he has been through recently has affected his game, I hope he pulls through this because he is a quality player, a quality player only the likes of Fergie and the FA could ruin. I thought Enrique was poor bordering okay, Johnson fared better but should have got forward more. Skertel was good even though he played Cardiff's first goalscorer onside and Agger was alright too.
Kuyt's impact was obvious, more so than Bellamy's IMO, he came on and looked a genuine threat wanting to play the pass forward at every opportunity. I Felt sorry for him because he didn't start and on form I would have picked him over Henderson.
Hate to sound like a miserable old fecker after a cup win but after that performance I wouldn't have been too bothered had Cardiff won it. At one point I thought they deserved it more than us.
Typical LFC - always making hard work of it, it's taken 10 years off my life watching this club!
