4th... is it still achieveable?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think Spurs will finish 3rd this season, so that leaves us with Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and us to compete for the 4th spot. At the moment we are the last. So is it still achieveable?

I think yes but I'm a hopeless rose coloured optimist .
When you look at some of results this season, for e.g  just look Arsenal's start .

atm I'm finding myself looking down the table so I guess that sums up my mentality. We absolutely MUST win against Arsenal to stand any chance of getting 4th

the 2 games which worry me most are Sunderland and Newcastle away.
anyway, i hope we finish 4th but given the type of players we have, we will finish 6th, above Newcastle.

Mathematically it's very much possible. But looking at our inconsistency, lack of clinical finishers, right winger and a defensive midfielder and Kenny's bizarre match strategy and also Kenny's ability in this day and age, No, we won't. That's for sure. Sad to say, but I don't think Kenny still has what it takes to win the PL. We need a new face in the management seat. Someone who has the calibre to win it, sad to say, Kenny doesn't have it anymore. But he will still be the King of the Kop to me because of his past achievements here and will always love the guy.

Yes because our main rivals for 4th are playing almost as bad as we are.

It's possible but given how bad our home form has been this season I have serious doubts about our ability to close the gap let alone take 4th.

it is interesting that you say that. apart from Man City, we are the only team who remains unbeaten at home this season, and hopefully it remains that way.

the problem we have is that the players are not hungry, ruthless and determined enough. but that's the problem with most players from smaller club - when a bigger team buys them, they might think they have made it, and they might rest on their laurels or have nothing to prove anymore. this is all hypothetical but when i look at someone like Downing, it justifies my stance.

if the players were more clinical and had more desire to kill teams off at home at least, i am certain we would have at least another 8 points in the bag. sad to say, 4 players who actually have the correct mentality and desire aren't the future of the club - Gerrard, Bellamy, Carra and Kuyt - considering their age.

Obviously we can win fourth place still, but to do that we have to win games and we don't seem very good at that. Whenever Chavski drop points, we drop them too. We simply aren't ruthless enough.

Once again with the "ruthless", "killing edge","willpower".
Pure garbage is what that is!
All of that can be replaced with "not good enough players!"
