Racism goes far deeper than just abusing a person with a reference to the colour of their skin.

Black people have a history of suffering at the hands of white people. (i could go on, but i won't give the full on history lesson)
It's that history that provides the poison behind the comment. Like Pavlovs Dog, the history can be forgotten, but the pain is felt.
White people don't have that history. Don't feel that pain.
Being called a white khunt is not offensive. That's just phookin bollox.

The whole Terry/Suarez debate exists because Terry's comment was said with venom, whereas suarez's was not meant in a racist way, and it's a cultural misunderstanding.

this seems to be an issue with how the british use our language. If we want to insult someone we seem to find it impossible to just say the insult eg as a safe example 'you are an idiot'. We always seem to need to put in a descriptive word before the insult so we get fat idiot, ugly idiot, ginger idiot etc. I think its a hole in a sentence the majority of people seem to need to fill.

This leads inevitably to using another description of the idiot referencing their colour. I dont believe the majority of people who might say, for example. black idiot are actually racist. They are just lacking the creativity of a really good insult.

The law of the land makes referencing race or colour as part of an insult is a racist offence so the insulter, while not necessarily being racist, is guilty of racism. This is what Suarez has been banned for.

Bottom line is we know what the law is and need to watch what we say accordingly.

This also means that saying you white idiot also has to be considered racist abuse or the law is worthless. How consistently the law is applied is a whole different argument.

But punishments can be determined and dished out based on intent.
Terry + intent = life Ban
Suarez - no intent = 200 hours cumminty service working in Racsim awareness.
Forum member - no intent = a stern talknig too and 48 post to diffuse the situation.

Mods had to dish out a punishment, but like Suarez, it doesnt fit the crime (or victim)

No, my question is correct. The point of my question was if you were ever insulted in ANY way. I bet you have and I bet you don't always cry like a bitch and ask for the authorities (the mods in our case) to punish the one who insulted you. People insult each other, it's everyday life, don't be a bitch and suck it up.

The bottom line is that I just can't see how a reference to someone's color is (THAT MUCH) more offending than being called a son of a bitch. Racial or not, an insult is an insult, and they should all be treated in the same way (either ignore them or punish all who insult).

Been reading the forum since 1st week it went live. So it's actually a worse ratio than that.

Like everything, there are reasons for me not posting.

My life dicatates when i can get on the forum (with weeks in between & Most threads are over by the time i've read them as i tend to go back to when i last logged on) and my thoughts have already been posted by someone else.
Due to a long period of illness, im upto date. yay

Also seeing how other people got treated on here for expressing football related opinions (which are trivial when faced with this subject) means i rarely want to get involved. Just happy to read.
