It's a foregone conclusion that we're in desperate need of a quality striker to finish the chances created. Kenny recently has signed many teenage strikers, but they won't be featuring for at least another 3 years. So in the meantime esp. with Suarez facing a imminent ban of 8 matches, we need to buy in January and I'm sure Kenny have set sights on a few potentials but it's all behind closed doors. He needs to do his research well and thorough and make sure a striker is really worth the millions LFC will be paying. He must learn from the huge blunder panic buy last year. That striker must be someone who can play Liverpool's way, can be a prolific scorer and can compliment with Suarez well when he returns from the unjustified ban.

Forget about getting sulking old flame Torres back. He has past his prime since he returned from injury. He's now sulking in Chelsea, he didn't even celebrate from the bench when they got the winner against City. THere are younger and better options out there in the continent and S.America. I've been impressed by Valencia's Soldaldo, he reminds me a lot of Torres at his prime. Hope we can get him.

We need to think long term.  Yes Suarez is probably going to miss games and we have very little options up front without him.  But we cant afford to make the same mistake as last January.

Im all for signing a striker if the price is right and the club have done their homework on the player.

We have to bring in a quality forward.. loan or permanent.. its as simple as that. We are 3 points off 4th... and we need a goalscorer. Luis looks like being out for 8 games.. and without a quality finisher our season could be over by that stage.

We sit back and do nothing then we can almost certainly kiss another season goodbye. Bellamy is a creative type forward (drifts wide alot).. as does Luis for that matter. Kuyt has been pushed out to the wing due to his inadequacy as a striker while Carroll doesnt need any comment.

We need someone like Defoe (obviously not him as no way would they agree to that)..  a box finisher to put away the umpteen chances we create game after game. Dare i say it... Darren Bent?? Yes hes not a title winning forward.. however, hes definitely someone who would score goals to get u into top 4.

Any talk of Nando should be dismissed in the same way as Owen when he was available after his term at Real Madrid and Newcastle. Michael did nothing at Newcastle other than collect a massive weekly pay cheque and get to know the physios very well.He has also done very little at United.  Got to still like Nando though for the memories and I think he was pushed into a transfer request so that Liverpool could well and truly maximise the selling price and the chavs willingly obliged. Both Nando and Owen's performances took a huge dive after their respective injuries. Nando's situation is even worse because it has hit him very bad mentally. We need new blood not old crocks!

Owen scored 26 in 71 appearances, hardly nothing. In fact its a better goals per game ratio than his spell at Real Madrid or now at Man Utd

SWANSEA City will need to up their offer for Rory Donnelly after Everton stole a march in the race to sign the striker.

Everton boss David Moyes has made an increased bid for the highly-rated young Cliftonville striker, who has held talks with both clubs and Liverpool.

The Northern Irish club confirmed that Everton’s offer was “considerably higher” than Swansea’s as the two Merseyside clubs emerged as favourites to land the 19-year-old.

Swansea had a bid thought to be around £100,000 accepted for the forward, but Everton and Liverpool upped the stakes by offering larger fees, understood to be no less than £150,000.

Donnelly and his agent were discussing personal terms with all three clubs last night, and Cliftonville expect a deal to be completed today.

“Everton’s bid is considerably higher than Swansea’s,” said Cliftonville chairman Gerard Lawlor. “There is a major difference in the bids. They are miles apart. My job is to do the best thing for Cliftonville. It’s not all about money — it’s a great opportunity for Rory.

“We will be sticking to the deadline and a deal will be concluded today.”

It also emerged last night that Donnelly had spent time with Everton last week, despite Moyes only confirming the Toffees’ interest in the player on Tuesday.

Donnelly has scored 17 goals so far this season, and the spectacular nature of his strikes have alerted scouts from Arsenal and Leicester, though neither of these clubs are believed to be in negotiations with the teenager. Donnelly was at the Liberty Stadium on Monday for talks with Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers, and Cliftonville boss Tommy Breslin said the striker was pleased with what he saw. “Rory said that he was impressed by Swansea and by what Brendan Rodgers had to say,” said Breslin.

“He said the facilities were good and that there was a great team spirit with no egos. The Northern Irish link with Brendan probably helped too.

“We expect the deal to be completed today. We’ve got a fixture on Boxing Day and I’m planning for it without Rory.

“The size of the bids will have a bearing on it, as we’re only a part-time club and that would be a lot of money. It will be a massive step for Rory but he will benefit from the full-time training.

“It’s certainly a big chance for him.”

Peter Whittingham of Cardiff is the best player in the Championship and I think he has the abilty to do very well in the EPL.

Would support a cheeky wee bid for Darren Bent as well but reckon we are more likely to go for a younger up and coming player - in line with Fenway Sports policy!!

how about giving a chance to players like Suso, Morgan or Pacheco?
no harm at least TRYING? ???
besides, they are more mobile then Carroll anyway.

We need a creative midfielder. Look at the players we have:

Adam
Lucas
Spearing
Henderson
Downing
Maxi
Gerrard
Kuyt

Apart from Gerrard and Maxi, we are really void of any attacking threat in the middle. I really do not rate Adam, Henderson and Spearing at all. The trio should be playing in a club like Sunderland or Wigan, not a club with aspirations to qualify for the ECL! While Kuyt is past it as his statistics show: 1 goal in 18 games.

Dare i say, bring back Aquilani?  At least, he will be able to provide the tricky sublime passes and could link up well with Suarez, Enrique and Maxi?

Pacheco no longer here.  Would rather see Sterling on the right so Downing can stay left.  Might be too soon for him, might not.

we are in desperate need of a striker... but such has been Kenny's appalling signings how on earth can u trust him? Allow a loan signing and thats it, then evaluate where we are in the summer. My concern is the owners are clueless and have very little knowledge of running a club. Allowing him to spend 35 million on a player worth less than 15 was cringeworthy. Its like they have no concept of worth.

Kenny has continued here from where he left off at Newcastle where he signed....Andreas Andersson, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Stephane Guivarc'h.. for a fortune, and after 5 years of Beardsley, Ferdinand, Cole, Asprilla, where Newcastle were on a constant upward curve...his signings ended them.

I love Kenny as a man, and what hes done for the club, but i wouldnt allow him anywhere near transfers.
