Never fancied him really but have to hold hands up, fantastic today. Could it be said his game is growing without Gerrard along side him? Taking responsibility more now perhaps

Top notch stuff from this lad.  Got his foot in and disrupted City's play endlessly and managed to keep the likes of Silva and Nasri very quiet.  Maturing into a bit of a player isn't he?

Monster performance from Lucas today, he didn't let the City midfield breath, you can see that he is starting to understand his importance, I liked his 'discussion' with Agger, showed that both players have the ability to lead and they give a damn.

the sad thing is, they'll still be fans who think he's "not good enough" for what we want.

the bloke is a monster. absolutely boss today. infact it was arguably the best performance i've seen from a liverpool player in any game this season.

Becoming quite a player. I'd suggest we give him the captaincy in Stevie's abscence.

Becoming one of the best DM's in the prem , Toure and Barry are currently keeping Lampard and Mikel company in his pocket .

MH you miserable bugger!

If we focus on where are weaknesses lie today, Lucas is well down the list.

From safe position (player/skill set), no need to make changes downwards:

Safe positions:
Reina,
Suarez
Lucas
Jose Enrique,
+++

Solid positions:
Adam
Johnson
Gerrard
Bellamy
Downing
Maxi
Kuyt
+++

Doubtful:
Spearing (not good enough)
Henderson
Carra (past his prime)
Carroll (unproven)

Prospects:
Coates (unproven), Kelly and all the other youngsters who need a full season before we can properly judge them.

Need replacement:
Agger - too injury prone and terrible waste of salary over the years
Skrtl - too inconsistent, too slow

Taking into account Coates, Kelly and some of the other young defenders coming through, the back 4 could be rock solid by the end of the season.
The core of the midfield is good enough at both taking the game to top sides (Citech, Chelsea and ManUre) and defending.
The weak area is putting the ball in the back of the net!  Where's Carroll  when you need her? Downing, Kuyt etc.. they've got to become more goal focused.

After good performances against Citeh, Chelsea, Ure etc.. I'd like to see the Spurs game again where we got ripped apart and see where the weak points were again and what we've done to change the gameplan.

Overall, looks good but clearly Kenneth needs til the end of the season to get this team to gel and develop into a proper unit.

When I saw the monstrosity of player (Toure) bounding forward with the ball bouncing a couple of Red shirts off him, then went to take on Lucas I thought 'ere we go, we'll see what the lads made of' he didn't disappoint. He made a fabulously well timed tackle and robbed the bloke of the ball, that was an excellent moment.

Lucas had another top game - glad he's proved me wrong!    :)

I am one of his biggest critics but, besides a few needless free kicks given away, I have to say he played well and was possibly my MOM yesterday. He is definitely growing in the role and I hope he continues to show the form he showed yesterday.

'needless free kicks' is the new 'passes 5 yards sideways'

He was excellent yesterday and it was also the best performance Lucas and Adam have produced when playing together.

He actually won quite a few headers also, I really think there is room for him to get forward a little more as he showed when he linked up with Suarez late in the game yesterday.

He was immense. Easily one of the first names on the team sheet.

I agree in part with this.  But I also think that he didn't venture forward until they were down to 10 .  His job of playing in front of the back four is priority.  He'd need to be paired with someone a bit more defensive minded to be able to be more attacking.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.
