he's been one of our best since the start of last season imo, to be fair he was never a def mid until he arrived at liverpool, he's only 24, he's as good as any in the league now (except maybe parker and de jong) and only cost us 5m so i dont see us having any reason for complaint, long may his performances continue!

I would disagree and suggest there is no longer a split and more a minority of people who still dont understand his worth to the team . Fortunately we have a manager who understands his worth just like Brazil have a manager who understands his worth .

It's always he same old story - some people  nail their colours to the mast quite early when it comes to rating a player and they will refuse to waver from that no matter what the player does - that way they will always think they are right ( despite far more qualified people showing the total opposite )

Id be more than happy to move from my view if the player convinced me. I suppose part of this comes down to the fact that the whole team isn't performing generally so he being an old scapegoat becomes an easy target. That said, do you think he would get into the City, Utd or Chelsea squad?

Are Mikel and Anderson better than him ? What about Rameries ?

id have all three of them over Lucas, though none of them are what i consider top class.

Do you still want Mikel and Ramries after yesterday's performance

You will have to ask them to come out of Lucas's pocket first .

He needs to stop tackling from behind and giving free kicks away in dangerous positions

Giving away free kicks is always a consequence of being a defensive midfielder, especially when at times he has had to do the job of two players. Thought I'd have a look at the stats, and as it stands right now Lucas has made the highest number of tackles in the premiership, and also has the one of the best success rates. Charlie Adam has given away more fouls than Lucas. He's playing very well, our glaring weakness is our shot conversion. If we start putting more of the chances away it will relieve the pressure on the midfield and defence.

great video that.

Has there ever been a Liverpool player who has improved so much?

His work ethic is brilliant!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

He was young and many wrote him off as they knew so much and had a great eye. Remember he was booed regularly when all he did was give 100%. Him more than any other showed us we were like all the other fans, full of sh1t! Sign of the times I guess.  :no

He is not "world class" yet and may not get there, but he was always better than most gave him credit for and booing was never going to help him. People were angry at Rafa so therefore not many gave him a chance.

Absolutely hated him 3 season ago... But he's only 24 years old, and nowhere near the prime of his career.  At the rate he's improving, by the time he's in his prime he could very well be one of the best defensive cms in the world.

He's so affective because he's so mobile, and offensively he's really productive.  He keeps the ball flowing and an extremely accurate passer.  Thrilled for the guy.

the only other time i have ever seen a player do a u turn like this was when Thierry Henry first come to England, he looked a wast of space.

excellent display from Lucas... I really dont know if the current side can function without him. The amount of ground he covers in our half is just amazing.

Awesome today and totally deserved his man of the match.

Ran all over the billions of pounds city midfield, and showed some true quality. Is getting better and better this season.

Keep it up lad
