To Be fair Tubby most of the players you brought are playing in a different position then Lucas ,in a more Central Attacking role. The one's you brought should be compared to Adam or Gerrard.

Exactly how many of those players you have mentioned play in the same position as Lucas .

No it isn't rocket science but you still don't get it. They have all versatile and have played in the center at some point. Some still do. :laugh:

They are not ball winning defensive covering midfielders - not one single one of them - none of them play the same role in a team as Lucas .

At least Only Me mentioned Catermole who is in the same role .

Parker is another that Ace mentioned and is better than Lucas - Tiote is another good shout .

You should of mentioned Shay Given - it would of been closer than your picks .

If you don't understand the difference between the role that Lucas does in our team to the role those players you mention then it's hopeless

Of all the problems we have at the current time, Lucas and finding a replacement are low down on it. He does the job asked of him, and does it well, no point comparing him to the Silvas and modrics as they play in different roles, and are 30m players. The guy is disciplined and has improved hugely over the past 18 months. He can stay where he is as far as I am concerned, our weak areas are up front where we need a clinical striker and in central defence where skrtel is a liability, agger is glass man and carragher is close to the end.

People on the forum are willing to give time to unfit layabouts like Carroll and Adam, while giving greif to the player of the year, WTF

Benny you can argue all you want but if you haven't accepted that some don't rate Lucas then it's hopeless.

I really hope FSG go out and bring in some quality in the summer, at least that way we have Lucas who can come on when needed.

Oh well, good opportunity for Jay Spearing to remind us he's around still if chosen to play against Stoke. I like him. Of course he makes mistakes like Lucas used to incessantly but he covers a hell of a lot of ground and never gives up. A good option.

In regards to Lucas, maybe the problem isn't him but the system we are playing. The law doesn't dictate that byou need a DM in your line up. Maybe it's a case of trying a new system with a sweeper instead? Christ we have enough defenders to employ it

Exactly as I said earlier to you - people nail their colours to the mast and refuse to change opinion no matter what - lucky enough they are in the minority now and the majority realise the players importance to the team

The guy was voted player of the year by both the fans and his fellow teammates for a reason - one day the minority will realise what that means and there is no better judge than his own teammates .

Get used to seeing him because he will be first choice for a number of years yet

I'm still laughing at your list of players tbh .

They are doing deals at the moment - half price second set of glasses . That is good .

Lol! I De Jong is class, would have been a superb replacement for Masch. What about just change the system though as I mentioned earlier and use a sweeper instead? Shame Agger is so injoury prone as he would make an excellent sweeper with his dribbling skills, tackling and passing range
