Despite what anyone says it's clear opinion on im is still split which can only mean he isn't doing enough to convince everyone he is the real deal.

I have LFC TV on constantly, much to the annoyance of her indoors who often asks me "havent you seen this before?" and "dont you get fed up watching this again and again?"
I am not falling for the "Lucas is a great player" and "integral to our team" viewpoint. I can see what he does and he does not impress me. If he was to leave tomorrow I dont think we would suffer that much, if at all. He is average rather than sh'ite these days, but Im afraid this is the best were going to see from him. A good holding midfielder who can tackle is what we desperately need. Instead weve got Lucas.

If your claims are true then I suggest you get yourself an appointment at Specsavers .

See what I mean?
Youre a funny guy
I really dont like criticising LFC players. Especially ones who are nice guys and try their best. Lucas is a hell of a nice guy who loves us and he does try his best. I just wish his skill matched his enthusiasm
:(

I would suggest round framed glasses - square frame will prob make you look a dick ( or more of a dick ) .

Sorry GYBS if Ive upset you
Is Lucas your mancrush?
Did you cry when he cut his hair short?

I would disagree and suggest there is no longer a split and more a minority of people who still dont understand his worth to the team . Fortunately we have a manager who understands his worth just like Brazil have a manager who understands his worth .

It's always he same old story - some people  nail their colours to the mast quite early when it comes to rating a player and they will refuse to waver from that no matter what the player does - that way they will always think they are right ( despite far more qualified people showing the total opposite )

Id be more than happy to move from my view if the player convinced me. I suppose part of this comes down to the fact that the whole team isn't performing generally so he being an old scapegoat becomes an easy target. That said, do you think he would get into the City, Utd or Chelsea squad?

Are Mikel and Anderson better than him ? What about Rameries ?

I'd rather we didnt go down that road because this is where you get a bit silly and over the top... For me the only one you could compare Lucas with from that bunch is Mikel and its a close one between the two.
Carrick is more of a midfield playmaker (exactly what we need instead of Adam) who is very good tactically and knows where/when to make forward runs or sit back. Anderson and Ramires are very similar with the latter's pace making him a decent threat offensively on the counter. Both poor positionally and would struggle as a part of a midfield duo over the course of a season.

End of the day, it doesnt matter who the better player is (for me, all the players you mentioned are better overall players than Lucas) and to judge who you'd rather have in your side you have to look at the formation we play and the players we have playing around Lucas. Atm, we have Adam (when playing 4-4-2) and Adam-Gerrard (in a 4-5-1) who are both tactically and positionally naive and prone to mistakes. What we need is someone who sits back, covers the width of the pitch well and does the simple things right.

For me, Lucas ticks the right boxes and given what we have he's an important member of the starting 11. Whether we can improve on Lucas is a different matter. I think players like Mvilla, Parker, Cambiasso..etc are all much better players and would probably do a better job than the Brazilian. But until we go out and sign such a player, we cant sit there pretending Lucas isnt doing an important job for the side. He does, and while he hasnt been spectacular or particularly impressive, hes been much better than many give him credit for.

One last thing, I've been a huge critic of Lucas until last year and I still think he was horrible in his early days but the guy has improved significantly in recent times. Even last year he had som terrible displays but overall he was decent and this year I think hes improved rather than deteriorated. Defensively, Adam and Henderson are a huge step down from Meireles and Spearing and that leaves us exposed at times but I wouldnt blame Lucas for it.

I wasn't really comparing them as such  but responding to tubby's post about him being in the Chelsea and Manc squad when I see IMO players worse than him in both squads , Mikel and Anderson being prime examples .

As for Carrick - he has gone downhill massively now and will leave the mancs soon to join a Bolton etc .

No totally serious. Don't have the time to go over the rest of the league but i'm sure i could find at least 5-6 teams which have more talented players at this position. You are suffering from a rose colored glasses syndrom.

Your suffering from lack of football knowledge .

Cattermole - that's hilarious , next you will be wanting Poulsen back .

Do you understand what it means when a national manager calls up a player ? Or when a player is voted the clear winner of the player of the season ? Or when his fellow pro's at the club say he is player of the season ?

Please do keep mentioning players - I need a laugh .

Lucas is an ok player no more no less. He will never be a top player as he dosnt have the talent. The reason we are no longer a top team is because we have replaced players of the calibre of Alonso, Mascherano, Torres and hyypia with Lucas, Carroll, Henderson, Skrtel etc there decent but no way near as good as there predecessors.
