On yesterdays showing he wasnt missed at all. There was a distinct lack of stupid, needless fouls and potentially dangerous free kicks given away by our area.
That feeling of "what the fu'cks he doing!" was completely absent yesterday and we were unlucky not to win
If only he was suspended for a few more games...

We need to get Lucas straight back into the first 11.  We missed him yesterday.

What's so funny about that? He is spot on.

We could have won by as big a margin as City did but our ability to finish cost us. Otherwise I thought we looked pretty solid.

Lucas is essential to our midfield....I believe we would have won if he was playing...steven gerrard is not the man to sit deep , get him up the field in a more threatening role...

How does Lucas playing would have made Suarez and rest score goals?....Lucas might have allowed Stevie going a bit forward but that wasn't the main problem.

You're right it wasn't the main problem.

But... it was massively noticeable that he was missing. He is integral to this team right now.

Lucas playing wouldnt have made Suarez score
And as far as him being integral or essential, I thought, the frustration of not putting the ball in the net aside, it was a much better performance with less aggravation and teeth grinding for me

I think its naive thinking our performance against Norwich was any indication that the team can perform well with Lucas out of the side. For me, NONE of our players had a good game out there and our midfield was shockingly poor especially when it came to closing down spaces and pressing the opposition. We left way too much space in front of our back4 and it cost us 2 points and potentially could have led to us losing the game. Norwich are a poor side and while I'll give them all due credit for a good performance, we need to realize that yet again, we quite simply didnt do enough at either end to get the three points.

All the big sides miss plenty of chances against such smaller sides but in many occasions the difference between picking up the 3 points or the 1 point like we did is the defense (and that includes the midfielders) stopping the opposition from scoring and creating dangerous chances.
Now, whether Lucas has been good, poor, or excellent is a completely different discussion to where I'm going with this. I'd understand someone thinking Lucas hasnt been doing a good job defensively and suggesting Spearing be introduced to the starting 11 but for some to suggest that we should continue with a midfield of Gerrard-Adam for me is ridiculous. We struggled against Norwich with the pair, and against better opposition we would have been battered with that setup.

Lucas is not all that is he and wouldnt get a game at any of the clubs in that top 3 or at Spurs. Frankly he would find it tough going at Newcastle the way that lad Tiote is playing. There is no point deluding ourselves our players are something they are clearly not and he only plays here as we are weak in that area. For too long we have done nothing to fix the Lucas issue and I personally feel its a big problem for this team. We may not like it but the mobility and energy of some midfields in this league puts ours to shame and its about time it was put right.

With the defence we have, Lucas is the most important midfielder on the pitch...it's upto Kenny to pick the best of the others to play alongside him...SG would be better closer to Saurez...I want Gerrard around/in the box looking to score goals because there aren't many players in our team who have the scoring habit....

Lucas for captain

I have to agree to an extent.. I dont think Lucas is captain material but we need to build the midfield around him until we are good enough defensively to be more expansive.

For Gremio didn't Lucas operate in a more advanced role? That's the problem right there.
