Tim Cook taking over as CEO.

Not sure what to make of it tbh. I know he has had health problems over the last year, hell he beat pancreatic cancer but im sure he wouldn't have stepped down unless he was confident Apple would continue going strong.

Iphone 5 should be big.

PRESS RELEASE: Letter from Steve Jobs

August 24, 2011–To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

Very scary isn't it though.  The man was 56 years old, had all the money he could want and yet there was nothing modern medicine could do for him.

Terrible news.  Very sad to see somebody like him go... A true renovator of technology.  I'm an Apple guy, and so are my brothers.  We've all got our Mac book pros, our iPhones, and all the little fun things Apple came out with.  Sad to see the guy who led the fight against computer companies making dodgy computers that you had to replace every 6 months go.  Apple is an amazing company, and it's because that's how he wanted it.

RIP Steve Jobs, YNWA

its very sad that steve jobs has died, he was probably the ideal CEO for any innovative technologies company and by all accounts a hugely decent and likeable guy as well. apple will struggle to do so well without him.

i've also been an apple user all my life, for the computer products at least. but even so, over the last 2 or 3 years i'm finding it harder and harder to love the company. i'm beginning to find the products overpriced, not without reliability issues and i'm hugely against any one product being locked into an exclusive system to make it work - as it is with the iphone and itunes etc etc etc. i'll probably keep on using the macbook as my main computer as i just love the OS and the feel of the machine, but i have a little feeling that i might start having a closer look at linux as a possible alternative.

Fine example of old cliche it's not how many days on this planet that matters, but what you do with them that counts.
As others have said leaves a fine legacy.
