We haven't become a joke but I think if we put in another performance like today and god forbid lose against Wolves then the media will rip into Kenny given how much we spent in the summer.

Minimum still has to be in the top four, Since the start of the season Arsenal have imploded so the opportunity is still there.

Arsenal imploding does not give us 4th mate. Spurs have a decent squad, as was made clear today and if Arsenal slip up and we can't take advantage then I expect them to.

it makes it easier than at the start of the season. tottenham were always a threat, but I still believe that on the whole we are a better squad, and once Kenny starts playing the guys on what they offer rather than their price tag, or whether he bought them, we can take fourth. spurs have improved their squad a little, but I expect Adebayor to fck up sooner or later.

Maybe but Kenny needs to get the likes of Henderson, Adam and Carroll playing somewhere near the potential they were bought for. Until that happens we can kiss goodbye to any chances of 4th.

has to be fourth as a minimum. If Kenny can't deliver that by the summer then he'll have to go and we'll get someone who will.

Simple.

You have a point there after spending more than 100 million since he returned. Any manager spending that much money and cannot qualify for CL will need to be re-assessed whether to continue on with him or not.

Putting the lethargic and shameful performance against Spurs aside, I'd like to say about the underlying problems of LFC.

It would be grossly unfair to point all the fingers at Kenny alone. Our beloved club has been in declined since he resigned 20 yrs ago and not much initiatives were being made to upgrade to compete with our rivals in terms of raising funds and appointing capable managers perhaps we were too complacent as we were after all 'The Most Successful Club in British Football". We had become the hare who fell asleep while racing with the tortoise.

With the strings of either above average or inept managers appointed and the final nail in the coffin, the sale of the club to H&G and the appointment of Roy, we were down to the pits. And the return of the King but without CL football and pumping in millions to sign above average players will not solve the problem overnight. It may take a few more seasons under Kenny to finally qualify for CL. It will be sad if he resigns or sacked without given the chance to prove himself. The problem we're having now is an accumulated one down the years and I'll say it again, it is grossly unfair to put all the blame on Kenny.

The players we bought were all overvalued except for Suarez, Adam and Coates and are not in tandem with their ability and so IMHO, the team as a whole is an above average one with a great manager in charge and finishing 6th place again is no problem but in top 4 will need a miracle. I would say Kenny took a big risk by spending that amount of money because without CL football, that's the kind of players we can attract and I'm sure he is aiming for top 4 finish and use that as a platform to sign the star names that we currently cannot do. I'd do the same like he did if I were him and let's see whether this risk will pay dividends come May next year.

Football has radically changed since his first tenure here in the 80s. The requirements to win PL today are:

1. A capable manager in charge.
2. Qualification for CL as a platform to attract star names.
3. Tycoon owners with unlimited funds to attract those star names.

Now how many of those 3 above can I tick? IMO only the first one. Number 2 and 3 are out of the question for us. Let me be brave and say "CL football MAY have to wait for another season" unless we can make a few more quality Suarez standard like signings in January. Notice I said MAY, not DEFINITELY so pls don't grill me for saying this.

With respect that is a load of :censored:
That was a one off performance and I guarantee we will not see another like it this season
We have good and great players who underperformed yesterday. Nobody came out with any credit. All were bad. But that happens in football
To bring more players in would be foolish and to get rid of KK would be madness

Yesterday was a really bad day at the office. We can't and won't be that bad again this season.

Nothing has changed imo. We'll still be fighting for 4th come the end of the season. It could be worse. We could be Arsenal fans.

Saturday was massively pants.  Horrible game to be at.  I don't expect to see such a dire performance again.  I certainly hope not.  I also hope I never see Martin Skrtel playing right back again.  With Kelly, Johnson and most importantly, Gerrard back for us, we should see improvement.  Midfield was nowhere yesterday.  Poor games all round, some abysmal (step forward Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson).  Carra worries me these days too.  I hope Coates proves to be a star for us.  We need better defenders.  Kenny - start Kuyt and Bellamy.  Please.

Talent wise we are six place. But we should compensate this gap with our resolve ,hunger and the Liverpool Spirit. If we bring those values to the pitch every game a fourth place is a reasonable target.

Totally agree. No matter what the circumstances that kind of investment must result in CL place or it is a bid failure.
I would be very dissapointed if it happened but that is how modern football works. If a manager make more failed signings than good ones he will pay the price.

But that all british theme we have going is so 80´s. Look at the very best teams, Manure, Mancity and Chelski and the mix of nationalities they have. You take the best of everything and mix it together. There are few top class brithish players and the ones that are plays for the top clubs already.

Champions League next season is a MUST !!!

The owners have invested heavly in the playing squad it is what they and us will expect, we have finished in the top 4 with a weaker squad than we have now.  There is no excuses.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

REST IN PEACE PHIL, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
