Diao - Times up sunshine.

Diao's performances have nothing to do with effort, application, commitment or attitude.

He's just not good enough.

£5M outlay.....I imagine the bean-counters are providing for at least a £4M write-off.

That write off brings me onto one more point.  At times of such economic pressure (transfer budget & new stadium) , when we're trying to compete domestically with Chelsea, Man Utd & Arsenal, these signings are a bigger risk and we cannot afford these write-off's.....[Cheyrou, Diao, Diouf, Le Tallac, Pongolle, Biscan,] ???

I have always said give the lad a chance in midfield but when he has played in midfield he hasn't put a stamp on the game or stood out, I suppose you have to call it a day sometime and I think he should move on to somewhere like Pompey as although he gives 100% (apart from yesterday) he isn't good enough to play at the level LFC want to be at :(

That was honestly the worst performance i have ever seen by a player in a red shirt.....and that takes some doin when u consider some of the duff buys we have had over the years
Chopper:Look, you're not still angry at me about the leg, are you?
Neville Bartos : Nah, forget about it.
Chopper : Because I don't know if you remember, Neville, but I had that bloody shotgun pointed at your head. I reconsidered and dropped it down to your kneecap. Remember?

Only problem is, who the ****** would want to buy Diao ???  Imo we should wrap him up in christmas-paper and give him away to someone too polite to return unwanted gifts

Yeh he's on his way surely. Can't fault him for effort, just simply not up to it. An earlier post suggested that of his 5 mill price tag, 4 mill could be written off. TBO, I think if anyone offered absolutely anything at all for him or Diouf and agreed to take on their whole salary (We must be still paying at least half of Dioufs wages at Bolton, they don't pay anybody 40 grand a week), then I strongly suspect we would bite their hand off at the elbow.
Overall their joint purchase at 15 million pounds, say it slowly FIFTEEN MILLION POUNDS represents a scandalous waste of money and catestrophic error of judgement. It's not like we've got much money as it is. Unbelievable really.

yeah we are and it stinks.

infact overall we are still paying somewhere in the region of £80,000 a week to "our players" who are on loan elsewhere.

I know we're not on our own St Mike, it's quite common these days as players on elongated and inflated deals are farmed off to smaller clubs. Even so though, you're quite right about the bad smell. 80 grand a week, 4 million a year and thats not even including some of the misfits and nomarks who haven't been loaned out.
When I first moved to london 20 years ago, I used to live round the corner from Highbury and used to go watch the A rse as a neutral maybe 5 times a season. They were an average midtable team then, pre George Graham and going absolutely nowhere. If anybody had said to me then that in 2004, Arsenal would have a better team than us it would have been difficult to believe but not incomprehensible at a push. But more transfer funds? a bigger club? not possible surely without the intervention of an Abrhamovic or a Jack Walker. But here we are, years of non-qualification and under achievement in the cash cow that is the champions league and an absolute litany of disasterous purchases later and the two clubs do not compare today in terms of size and clout. It has been a tragic case of mismanagement over many years.
I really do hope though and believe that at last we have found the man to take us forward. I am so encouraged by his dealings in the transfer market ( notwithstanding the fact that Josemi was poor IMHO on saturday) and isn't it encouraging that when he has gone out and paid huge money for a player, and lets face it 10.5 mill is for us a huge investment, that you can actually see why. If his big buys are going to be of the calibre of Alonso then in a few years we may be a a force again. Please though, no more Diao's and Diouf's.

Diao was a typical Houllier player. Hes an athletic giant of a man who can run around the field all day. Unfortunately he has no technical ability. In a nutshell he cannot play. Hes the black Biscan and Biscan is the white Diao  :)

I think Diao is a good thing to LFC because after Diouf was gone, Biscan was really concern about him being the whipping boy now. But thanks to Diao, everyone else can now focus on football without any distraction. Diao is really a team player as he take one for the team.

Seriously though, I think the players we have at the academy level are surely better if not have more potential than Diao. The likes of Welsh should be able to handle the DM role. Hope Rafa can give him a chance.

 it amazes me just how bad some of gh's buys really were -- where were the scouts? alt will be good cisse will be good but it is mind boggling the financial ruin the team went thru -- i am assuming that all these contracts are guarenteedand if so were ******. i feel for rafa he's got to try to showcase these stiffs so maybe someone will take them off his hands

salif is done --shown he has no value
biscan is next -- maybe he'll play well enuff to get some interest -but wasn't he 5 mil -- wow may recoup 500k -- really it isn't the transfer fee -- its been costed its the wages -- they're a current reoccurring expense and if the wages i've seen are right -- ouch -- morgan where are you

now i'm depressed so i'll think of dinner
