I see that Ian St. John and Tommy Smith have had a blast at Houllier.
Smith says that Houllier has wasted Liverpool’s money on rubbish players and it is now time to deliver. Strangely, he then completely contradicts what he just said by then saying that Liverpool should not sack Houllier but give him a lot of money to sign 3 or 4 players in January!
St. John’s criticism of Houllier is closer to what the fans are thinking. He says that the current Liverpool squad is dreadful, especially the defenders and the French league players. He says that Houllier promised the league within 5 years of taking over, but Liverpool are now miles away from it. St. John says it’s time for Houllier to stand down.
I think it is significant that a former great has called for Houllier to stand down. I think the criticism will reach incredible proportions by the end of the week, but Houllier will save his bacon with a jammy win at Wolves, before losing (or drawing which at the moment is almost as bad as losing) to Man City and/or Bolton.
Just wait and listen for Houllier having a go at St. John now!
