Course he did.Iv heard it all.He shits out of tackles,he cant pass it.When he is the highest tackler in all of europe last year and one of the best pass succes rates in England.
But i suppose that doesnt matter because most are 'sideways'
He doesnt score goals but how many goals did viera Fletcher makalele score? a few a season,Lucas has one a season playing in a very average side that went through transition.Fletcher Viera makelele played in some of the greatest sides ever where gettin your name on the goal sheet wasnt that hard.
The thing is some Liverpool fans call themselves fans when all they do is look for thing to give out about. There is always something to give out about for them yet we had a brilliant start to the season.
Take a look at yourself and reslitically do you think that you know more than Kenny? If Lucas is good enough in Hodgsons Kennys Benitez's Mano Menezes eyes then why on earth do you think he is only average?
Are you Lucas Agent or what?
Highest Tackler in all europe? Best Passer in England? pass me some of that good stuff.
Why go to Viera or Makalele...He is no Mash and no Alonso should we continue? is he Hamman?
Let's not turn our view of Lucas to a test on us as Fans ,don't be pathetic. And not lets place our managers on a pedestal saluting every choice they make...Hodgson and Benitez are out because they failed let's not forget that ,Menezes failed in the Copa so No it's not because of Lucas but you get my point.

Ridiculous comparing him to the likes of Vieira and Makelele...
Hes not a top player but as someone suggested you dont really need a starting 11 of top players to make a team work... For me, hes good enough to start in the side we currently have but not good enough if we want to go out and win the title given the players we'll most likely rely on to do so (Gerrard in an advanced role and Suarez + Downing + Carroll).. We'll need someone who offers more at both ends and particularly in the defensive side of things...
I have no problems with Lucas keeping it tidy and simple. Playing the short, sideways pass and knowing that it isnt in his job description or his strongest suit doing so.. He's also improved quite a lot defensively but still isnt amongst the best in his position.
All that said, again I think its nonsense criticizing the guy now given the performances hes put out so far this season and the decent season he had last time around...
Theres certainly something to be noted in us having 2 of our worst seasons with him coming into the side regularly and failing to produce the goods, but atm I feel our expectations of the team as a whole and the players individually need to be a little more realistic..

Fair point.I am comparing him to those because people have use those players as a example of good players in his position and I was just stating that he doest the same job but is also younger and is in a weaker the team the last two years.
Viera and Makalele are serious players but are all in there mid 30's.We cant compare because Lucas has it all ahead of him.
I included Fletcher because as much as he is underated he played in league winning sides and great side has a dark horse in it.Gilberto was a dark horse in Arsenal's side when they won the league in I think 2003? Yet every calls himnow.
I disagree that Lucas cant be in a league winning side.He is a great player in a good team at the minute. He was thrown into the deep end when Alonso left and we wereby the two yanks. This lad kept his head down and did he job and still got abused because he didnt do anything spectacular. wrong place wrong time for him. But now after the abuse laying off the idiots are starting to notice that he is decent. He performance to today was unbelieavble but still the idiots wont comment on it because they will wait till he makes a mistake the pick it out.
Iv no more to say but LUCAS IS BOSS
He is starting in this team for the next 10 years and Id love some genius to tell me or king kenny any differ.

Give it a rest... The transformation is there for all to see.. Im sure if you ask Lucas himself he'll tell you theres no comparing his performances now with his performances 2 years ago or so... He's developed and is now finally good enough to play in the side and play regularly.
Back then, I still maintain that his incompetence paired with wrong tactical and transfer/selection decisions led to our downfall.. Lets remember that when he was thrown into the side, it was a title challenging side and the stakes/expectations were a lot higher. He buckled, as did pretty much everyone else involved not least of which were the owners and managers.
Right now, hes playing his best football and deserves all the praise he gets. Trying to say that he was good a couple of years back, or that he will become better than Vieira, Makelele or even Hamann is pushing it a bit too far imo...
Hes paying his heart out and covering as much ground as anyone and that to a large extent is why hes producing the displays he currently is. Im not saying hes lacking in quality or is a bad footballer, far from it (i still think hes naturally a box to box player). But given his natural talent, I cant really see him becoming better than the players you mention up there were simply because they were some of the best players around in their positions based on both talent and application.
As for the whole starting for the next 10 years thing... We'll just have to wait and see. If he continues to develop and improve the way he has in the past 6-12 months then sure, he might be able to keep his spot in the side despite the competition. My take on it is that we'll soon have to bring in someone who is more specialized defensively if we are going to go after the title. In all likelihood, Gerrard is going to be pairing up with out defensive midfielder soon in the middle of the park with Suarez and Carroll our long term attacking force. For that, we'll need someone who is consistently impressive defensively and has good defensive awareness and positioning...
Im sure you'll jump on the post and list all the good hes done in the game against Bolton but its not about 1 game or even 3 months of good football.. For me, hes a starter in a side challenging for 4th.. For a title winning side and CL hopefuls, its a totally different ball game..
