Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

Still very early for him. But is there a pattern emerging here amongst LFC fans. It seems many are happy with his workrate - is it the Kuyt syndrome starting all over again. 'Hey, his control was poor, he didn't look like scoring - but he works hard'.

Not again FFS!

I don't buy the not 100% fit idea, sounds like a cover story while he is not scoring goals.

If it weren't for 50 million pound Judas over at Chelski not firing, Andy would get much more pressure from the media seeing that he is up there with the biggest transfers in EPL history.

I hope Suarez starts the next game...Andy can come on after we kill off the game  :nod

First off Zbabe, I think all of us hope he will "come good" but it wouldn't be much of a forum if all we had were members that applauded every players performance and any mild criticism or concern was labelled as "slating" the player.

Personally I've been disappointed with Carrolls contribution. Maybe I expected too much but considering we paid £35 million for him I might be forgiven for thinking that the board were confident that we were buying one of the worlds top strikers.

So far all I've seen is a throwback to the 70's , a big, strong and willing battering ram. Now, I'm not saying this won't/can't work but unless we play at least two other players in very close support up and around him much of his strength (arial ability) will be wasted. Not slating the fella, just trying to recognise what he's capable of AND what he isn't.

I think he has been quite good but the team has been better without him.
Hopefully things will start to click soon.

Aldo saying on LFC TV that he will come good just needs time and to develop understanding with team mates.

Trust his judgement.

his left foot has already proven he's not just about work rate.

What a load of nonsense questioning the lad after half a dozen or so games!!

Carroll will create and score a load of goals for LFC in the coming weeks/months/years. Top class old fashioned # 9

That header by him in the first half against Arsenal was amazing and im sure we will see more of that.
He left foot when he connect is also very strong. He puts himself about in a way where some centre back just dont know what to do.

Vermaelean had to play out of his skin to cope with him.

The fact that teams need to think of ways to deal with him shows that he is an advantage.Teams are worried about how to cope with him which takes other players out of the game and takes focus away from gerrard/suarez.Hes a handful and we havnt even seen him in full fitness and confidence yet. When he start banging them in like any player he will look world class and the big thing is  he is only 22.He is only going to get better.

totally agree. I think its an issue with confidence at the moment. Once he get one more will follow.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

the price is irrelevant for me. we ended up paying over the odds as it was a last minute deal instigated due to torres leaving. it was essentially chelsea's money anyway.

No mate, it was Chelsea's money but once that cheque was cashed it became ours.

Don't want to go on and on about the fee but can't help wondering what we might have got for the money if we hadn't been so desperate.

Anyway's, to be fair to the fella, it's still early days in his LFC career, I'm sure that given more time he'll get better, I'm just hoping it's sooner rather than later.

There aren't many we could have signed imo given the circumstances. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and if we knew how little of an impact he would make in the latter half of last season we probably could have invested the money better - but that would have involved the whole squad rather than just a striker - that's my opinion anyway.

I still think we've got a great striker on our hands and he'll show that with experience
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Carroll needs time to develop into good striker, however in the main time LFC desperately need to bring in another good striker as a back up along with Suarez.
