Ok, we’ve spent a shedload of cash, brought in new coaches and a new owners...so forget the pre-season bo**ocks, lets talk about the Premier League.

What’s your minimum expectations this season?  And by minimum...i mean where we MUST finish...no excuses.

For me it HAS to be top 4...anything less is a disaster and will leave serious questions being asked.

I know this is a poll, but i’ve put it here because it’s clearly a matter for discussion and will generate a bit of debate....

I suspect 4th will be the most popular opinion...

Obviosuly we always desire a league title challenge and want the absolute best because that's what goes with our club. This season we must get CL footbal back, then we can attract better players and be more competeitive in the transfer market.

I fear top 4 will be quite a challenge though with Arsenal always there, City look like they have the strongest squad in the league and Man U and Chelsea usually form the top 2 (I don't fear Spurs at all tbh). Kicking one of them out of the top 4 would be encouraging going into 2012.

I'd love a domestic trophy as well, I don't mind which :)

4th is probably going to be our goal this season, cannot see us breaking into City, Chelsea and Utd just yet. Our defence just looks too fragile to sustain any serious challenge.

Midfield and Attack are sorted, i can see us having quite a few "we'll score more than you" games. Cannot wait to see our first proper lineup though, definetely gonna be an exciting season.

If we at least challenge for 4th right to the end I think we will have done ok overall. Bit of luck we can sneak in. We can look at what we have invested but thats just to bridge the gap from last year however those above will spend big soon you can bet on that. Its very difficult to make up the ground theres no doubt about it, those sides above are top clubs with huge spending power in their own right and thats discounting Spurs who toppled us last year. We need all our players to be at it from the off and cannot afford any passengers simply because we dont have huge depth yet. No more slow starts this time, we need to hit the ground running and lay a marker early doors and build the momentumn.

I voted for 3rd place and automatic qualification for the Group stage.  I see City and Chelsea battling for the title with us and the mancs not too far behind.  Spurs and Arsenal will fall behind us I feel.  One thing I am pretty confident about, with 6 quality sides battling for the 4 spots, it's going to be an incredible season.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Has to be 4th, but im not yet convinced we have enough about us to be able to make a push for it.  Don't really need to say anything about City but if we are gonna get 4th it won't be them we are looking to overtake it's Arsenal who have just got Gervinho and are on the cusp of getting Mata. We need at least 3 more players of decent quality before we are ready.

I suppose we have to be patient and realise the club is in a transitional period at the moment. We need to get back into the top 4. This is vital. We need to continue our european pedigree next season. Having said that, would love Kenny to utilise his old magic and get us into the top 2 :nod I don't see why not so long as the defence issue is addressed pronto and the deadwood is shifted out. If it's not then would happily settle for a top 4 spot.

I voted 4th, but I couldn't really decide between 3rd and 4th.  I feel 3rd as well because we need to prove that we are not just doing the bare minimum of qualifying for the champions league, but that we are also going to be pushing for the title in the following season.  Finishing 3rd proves we are capable of really knocking one of the top 3 out and puts us in contention.

I feel Arsenal may start to feel the effects of problems they've had recently.

At this exact time 31th of July i can't see us finishing in any of the first four places. My claim at the end of last season was minimum of 6 new players in order to compete. We made 3 thus far ,short of 3 more ,mainly what we all know..CB ,LB and a backup striker or winger. I just can't see us talent wise getting through. Even fifth would be a hard task.

Clearly 4th.

How anyone can say anything other than 4th as a minimum, especially considering the last two seasons finishes!

Whoever voted 2nd as a minimum expectation is deluded.

minimum finish 4th.
imo the league is between sh1tty and manure and we wont have a look in.
arsenal have problems and chelsea have to break in a new manager so i see both those to be less dominant than they previously were.
so i think we can take either 3rd or 4th but i expect a scrap between ourselves, chelsea, spudz and arsenal for it while the other two battle it out for the prem.
