And I have to disagree with you I think it was a bit of a game changer, especially in the UK. I suppose it also comes down to what sort of music you are into. I always had a thing for 60's motown and Back to Black drew a lot of comparisons to having that kind of flow to it. God knows how many awards, it won, grammys the lot, it even made the Rolling Stones top 50 albums of the decade, came 20 I think. It went platinum and in most cases multi platinum in just about every country it was released in.

In short your taking shyte mate. Your just pished the Norway thing isn't all everyone is talking about any more. In a way these sort of comments are a bit childish which is why on this occasion I chose to bite. Not a dig at you personally but I really hate it when gimps on here just have to comment when someone dies about how they are not ar.sed. Yet when it's not affecting someone they have a genuine disinterest in the crocodile tears come out, fark off. I think it's disrespectful and distasteful. If they don't have anything decent to say they should really just keep their traps shut.

Talk about her music aside, ill second that...

I made that very point a few posts up.

We live in a shitty world where people die every day. But that doesn't mean when things like come along you try and talk down to people trying to show some empathy just because they did not somehow in your eyes acknowledge what's going on elsewhere.

I donate a % of my monthly salary to 3 different charities every month and even send old clothes on a regular basis overseas so hold your tongue with the high horse talk.  :glare:

Fact is you didn't really have to come in here to say you were not bothered.

And you didn't have to get on your high horse either, mate.
Fact is: I've seen the poorest of the poor first hand in India and know for a fact that the dead are collected in the middle of the night. THAT'S important and life-changing. Not the death of Amy Winehouse.
End of discussion

See now your just reverting to the "this person dying is more important than this" argument so i'll leave it there as it seems it's wasted on you.

Wouldn't be surprised if they already did before when she was all over the place.

Whether or not Amy Winehouse is front page news, I would guess she never asked to be. Even at her lowest, I would guess she never asked to be in the news.

The same as the victims in Norway.

Its not a competition as whose death is more important, and what the press print. Winehouse at 27 years is a shameful waste, as is the many who lost their life in Oslo. Its all just a complete shame its happened.

Preventable? Amy Winehouse's death would have been more preventable than the deaths in Africa - just on ratio alone 1:10.000.000.

And lamentable? Both cases are, the difference is public money in Great Britain has mostly been wasted by despot rogues for decades, who sought independence from numerous European colonies. They wanted their independence - they got it. Yet many African countries keep coming back for hand-outs and in most cases line their own pockets, while their people starve. Is it really up to us to keep the corruption in Africa snowballing?

I'm in agreement with you Bav.

This thread quickly turned into a competition.

I can put my hand on my heart and say I've never heard a single one of her songs.

Some folks never grow up and the media build them up as a distraction to most peoples' 9 to 5 routine lives, but lets be honest is a wino/alco/druggy someone to admire? My arsé.

Really makes me angry as it's true...

My girlfriend told me that she died today and my response was exactly this:

"It's about fecking time."

I kid you not, it was destined to happen sooner or later.  Stupid people that aren't even responsible enough to take care of themselves...

And like you guys said, tomorrow front page will be about this disgrace to society when 90 people tragically lost their lives in Norway.  She was asking for it, they weren't.

She had like 3 good songs about 5 years ago, singing  a way thats been sung for 50 years or more by people alot more talented, but as usual she appealed to the masses, she was a kind of x factor version of the style she portrayed.

Back to Black was hardly 'Nevermind' and to put her in the same breath as Hendrix, Cobain, Joplin or Morrison is a farce. She became a joke. Now today you here all the tweets the 'celebs' are putting in. Kelly Osborne apparently has not stopped crying since her best friend died.. her best friend?

Its a fecking joke. Sky news this morning did a 5 minute piece on Oslo, then 20 minutes on Winehouse. Its just pathetic. Its sad of course, but its pathetic. And thats all I have to say about that, for now, until the next rant.
