PHILIPP DEGEN - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Good luck to him at Stuttgart. He was injured so often he never got a chance to settle. From what I saw he was ok going forward but terrible getting back. Hopefully his injuries woes are behind him.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Or talking of playing him on the wing because he can't defend................................

I'm afraid the same kind of thing applies to Johnson and Aurelio, except people are happy to slate Degen while they want to believe Johnson and to a lesser degree Aurelio are good players. Better than Degen, but top clubs wouldn't sign them and we'd be laughing it up if they were the mancs' best full-backs

Liverpool defender Degen joins Stuttgart on year’s loan    Aug 8, 2010 5:16 PM

Liverpool fullback Philipp Degen has joined VfB Stuttgart on loan for the 2010-11 season, the Premier League club said on Sunday.

The Swiss international joined Liverpool in 2008 after leaving Borussia Dortmund two years ago but played only a handful of games.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge and the wonderful VfB fans,” Degen told the English club’s website (www.liverpoolfc.tv.)

“I really want to make use of my chance. It’s fantastic to be working together with Christian Gross again. I had a very successful time with him in Basel.”

VfB Stuttgart boss Gross said: “I know Philipp very well and rate him highly both as a football player and as a person.

“He is a very athletic and fast player, who often looks to push forward. Philipp wants to take his chance at VfB.”

F.uck why has the Degen thread crept up the boards, this thread should be condemed into the abyss as should his footballing career.

It'll be a loan whereby we pay half his wages as well Lee, he's on 38K per week apparently. We will save ourselves the best part of 750K in salary we won't have to pay him over the course of a 40 week season though, so it's better than nothing. On that sort of money, and considering how bad he is, nobody was ever going to actually buy him.

Unfortunately when you sign players as bad as him and pay them as much as we did, they are desperately hard to get rid of. I'm still amazed to this day we managed to get money for Dossena. Dossena makes Deggen look like Maicon.

if he did come back then i'd imagine it would be a mutual termination agreement. There's no way he'll play for LFC again. Awful signing.

Don't tell me we still have this headless chicken on the books. Hodgson's dregs are proving awkward to shift but Rafa's and all.
