What a player.

When he settles down and becomes a bit better physically i think we'll have one hell of a player.

To me he has upstairs and technically what Gerrard has physically.

Amazing to watch!

I was there too and thought Alonso was absolutely magnificent. Totally changed the game when he came on. Diao was bad even by his own standards so something needed to happen. Alonso though, jeez what a footballer.

Yeh I was travelling there and have just got back so don't know if he was injured/tired or what the reason for him not starting was. It's hard to imagine any situation or game with the possible exception of an Arsenal/Manu Old trafford style brawl where Diao could be the better option.

Not that difficult to get home quickly Hustle old son. Live in Wimbledon see, about five stops on the tube give or take. Putney Bridge station, district line I think. I do hope you're not casting aspersions as to my integrity??   :D

He still to learn the physical side of the English game to play well consistently. When hurried, he has not produced the desired result (eg, Chelsea's game).
What a game for him though. I hoped Rafa were merely resting him for the Euro game and not considering Diao a regular starting XI. Could have cap it with a wonderful goal from Cisse's cross, about the only blip from him all afternoon.

Xabi has such a good range of passing, I knew he would shine when Stevie was injured as when Stevie was playing Xabi has to play the Did role so we didn't see all of his ability :)

I have one question for you people....

Where are you memberts who questioned Alonso following the Chelsea game ? ?

Now I am not saying in that game he repaid all the transfer fee, far from it. Just that I do recall someone posting "Alonso should never be allowed to take a free kick again".

I am not one who criticise Alonso for that game (rather the whole team played poorly) but you must admit Xabi had a horror show at Stamford Bridge.

I know we have not seen his full range of passing ability but I'm still waiting to see him produce this kind of passes against a tight and well organised midfield.
