Need a baton - Where to get one?

Someone tried to break into my house recently and I want to get something to protect myself if anything like that happens again. So was thinking one of those extendable batons would do it.

Where can I get one of those from? Can't see any of them on ebay. I have found a few US based sites where I can get them from but I got a feeling it will not make it past customs if I order one so will end up being a waste of money.

Any other suggestions?

Yeah that might work, but a baton is smaller so can be carried around easier. Not that I want to carry it around but especially at night as well it will blend in.

Get an alarm Tubby.

You know the UK laws, some junkie we'll break into your house, you ended up clobbering him with a baton and it will be you who is being prosecuted for GBH or worse!

it's better to use something a little more subtle.

My law teacher used to carry a compass and a pair of scissors with her when she went out. She kept them in her bag with a few other teaching materials, so if she ever did have to use them she had good reason as to why she'd be carrying such items. A knife or something makes it look pre-meditated rather than an act of desperation

I remember reading something once about a guy who got harassed by two youths constantly, he rang the police and they did feck all, it was going on fo 6 months. He then decided to buy a shotgun and wait on the stairs for them breaking in one night, you can guess what happened after that. Anyway long story cut short there was massive public outcry for him to be let off because he was protecting his family, I'm pretty sure he walked free as well

So how would she use the compass and scissors then?

Point the compass due south and cut their pubes off?
