Well for one, we'd have a deeper squad, which is important. Also with Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard and Spearing you'd think we have plenty. Spearing has had a good season but he's not good enough yet. He needs to get a bit more experience before he's even considered a starter. We should loan him out to another prem club. Meireles is just too inconsistent. Honestly, he had that streak of goal scoring games where he was great, but since then there has really only been 1 other game in which he was good, and that was against city. I don't think Meireles is good enough to get us where we want to go. He can be good enough, but he is yet to be consistently good enough. I'm not saying ship him off because he's still a good player and I think if he can get things sorted, he can be a very good player.
That leaves Lucas and Gerrard. Gerrard is injury prone. I hope he won't be next season after all this resting period, but I still worry that he will be. Lucas and Adam are different type players. Lucas more defensive, and Adam more the Alonso type passer. They can both move the ball short distances tho. I imagine we will play on or the other based on the opponent. Also, Gerrard is capable of playing RM or as a third striker, or even as a second if we prefer. So I think sometimes Gerrard may be moved and we can play both Lucas and Adam.
Lastly, it's good to give players a rest, so we have the squad to do so without playing really lesser players.
Adam can really move the ball, he takes great corners, and has scored some great free kicks this season. I really hope he is a red in the next couple weeks, but I suspect Holloway is going to really stretch the transfer to milk it for what he can. I won't be surprised if he ends up being a signing some club makes on deadline day.
