If we didn't qualify for Europe next season we could go all out in the league and either win it or qualify for the CL.Of course it's easier said than done.But if Reina wants to leave we could tell him that were going all out in the league and he might stay.Look at our team this year in the Europa League.They didn't even look like they were bothered to win the thing.And what's worse is that 1.All the best teams in the Europa League are out and 2.It was in Dublin.Thousands and thousands of Liverpool fans would of come over from Liverpool to Dublin.It would've been like a home match.

If they're not bothered about winning a European Trophy, then thats a huge issue for the manager to sort out. This is actually an issue that causes me great concern... the lads are capable of raising their game against City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal etc...yet then they lose to Blackpool, West Brom, West ham and Braga or whatever the hell their name was.

Liverpool FC should be competing on 3 or 4 fronts every year. The Mancs are doing it.

The only way to prove we're too good for Europa is to win it and qualify for CL. Until we do, we're just stereotypical Liverpool fans that think we belong at the top.

We need a trophy. We won last trophy, in 2006, an FA Cup. 5 years ago.

Next year we can't win the Premier, but we can win the Europa League. EL is the only trophy that we can win, and Liverpool FC should focus on that.

Our targets for next year: 3th place and EL.

That's exactly what annoys me at the moment with our team.We beat teams like Chelsea, Man U,City,and none of them were close matches.We hammered all of them.It just shows how overpaid players are these day's.They get paid bucket loads a week.There not hungry enough.Sure there hungry against the biggest team's but that's not good enough.That's not what win's you the league or any other cup.That's why I want a young team.There hungry and want to prove themselves.

Kenny will sure as hell get those boys earning their dollar at the club. He already looks like he's instilling the values of the club into them and what it means to wear the red shirt. I Think we should qualify for it if we can, why the fook not BUT at the same time I'm concerned the sheer volume of games will hinder progress on the domestic front. We need depth to compete. Maybe the young uns can get some games under their belt and we can keep them fresh.

If we're to compete on these fronts that 'R' word is going to have to be used a lot, and right now I don't think we have the depth to do so

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool's hopes of securing European qualification remain very much alive - particularly following Manchester City's progression into the FA Cup final.

Currently, only a fifth-place finish will be sufficient enough for the Reds to gain entry into next season's Europa League.

However, should City prevail against Stoke City in next month's Wembley final but fail to secure a top-four berth in the Barclays Premier League, the team finishing in sixth will be allocated a place in Europe.

Carragher feels the scenario could benefit Liverpool.

"I think they (European hopes) are realistic," he told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We've got another opportunity now with City reaching the FA Cup final - if they can win the cup and don't finish in the top four, that's another avenue.

"I'm looking at all the different ways we can get in there. I'm desperate for us to get back into Europe - Liverpool have to be in Europe."

With five matches left to play, Liverpool are four points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur following Sunday's 1-1 draw at Arsenal.

Only Manchester United have accumulated more Barclays Premier League points than the Reds since Kenny Dalglish's return as manager in January - and Carragher was delighted to pick up another one at the Emirates, particularly given the current injury situation at Anfield

He said: "At any time, going away to Arsenal and coming back with a point, you'd take that even if you had your full team out.

"So to go there with the (injury) problems we had, and with Arsenal going for the league as well, it shows what a good result it was and what a great job the manager, Steve Clarke and Sammy (Lee) have done.

"It was a great point."

With a clutch of first-team players already on the treatment table prior to the trip to north London, Liverpool lost Fabio Aurelio in the early stages of the clash due to a hamstring injury.

The second half saw Andy Carroll sustain a knee problem, while Carragher himself was forced to leave the field after being knocked unconscious following an accidental collision with John Flanagan.

It meant the vice-captain watched the dramatic final few moments, in which Robin van Persie and Dirk Kuyt both netted from the penalty spot, on a television in the changing rooms.

"I'd come round in the dressing room. There was a TV in there, so I was watching the last few minutes of the game," Carragher revealed. "I was sick when they got the penalty and scored it, I thought that was it.

"I was actually on the phone to my dad and son when we got the penalty, so I told them we'd just been given a pen and everyone was delighted."

Carragher's clash with Flanagan left him requiring several minutes of lengthy treatment before he was carried from the field.

He laughed: "I feel a bit better now!

"At the time it was a bit of a whack and I was knocked out, but I feel okay now and will hopefully be okay for the weekend.

"It was just one of them things. John's enthusiastic, eager and keen and that's why he will go for every ball. It's exactly the way I was, and probably still am now which is why I went for it (the ball).

"It's part of the game. I'm sure I've whacked a few people over the course of my career!"

Liverpool are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Birmingham City.

The Blues are unbeaten on their last four visits to Anfield, while the Reds haven't defeated them in the league since May 2004.

Carragher knows it's a statistic that needs to change.

He said: "They're a decent side, Birmingham. Alex McLeish has done a great job. Going to Birmingham is always a tough game, but at home our record against them is not good and that's something we'll look to rectify at the weekend and get three points.

"We certainly need them because we're fighting for Europe. They're also fighting for their lives as well. But Birmingham is a tough game and it will show at the weekend that it won't be easy."

Carragher added: "I am confident we can open anyone up, it's just about whether we can produce the goods on the day.

"If we can do as well as we did against Manchester City in the last home game, I'm sure that will be enough."

Birmingham will journey to Merseyside as the League Cup holders having defeated Arsenal in dramatic circumstances at Wembley earlier this year - and Carragher knows they will pose a stern test.

"It was a great thing for them in winning the League Cup against Arsenal," he said. "The position they were in a few weeks ago, you wouldn't associate Birmingham with being near the bottom three, but they've clawed themselves out of it.

"They're not a team who you'd think would go down because they've got such a great home record, they're very good defensively, very tough to beat and they give everyone they play a tough game."

I hate that people keep saying don't qualify for Europe. First off, as much as some of you deny it, qualifying for Europe will help in signing some of the players we are going after. Secondly, if we qualify for Europe, that doesn't mean we have to go all out in it. We plan on spending big this summer and if we have some Euro games before the season starts, that will give us an advantage to get our squad together and get them some matches so they can gel and be ready for the first game of the season.

Once league starts we don't have to play our starters. Look at the guys who have been proving themselves this season. They want matches and if they don't get them they may leave. Flanno and Robinson could start every European game. Shelvey can get some time, Spearing and Lucas may not be getting as much playing time next season as this season. Gulasci could play, Wilson and depending on our CB situation next season it may be Skrtel or Carra or Kelly. Up top we can play Pacheco or whoever, it doesn't matter. We can play some of our reserves who score a lot, we don't have to play our top team. We can let them get as far as they want and when we go out, we go out.

Qualifying for the Europa won't ensure we sign quality players next season, no more so than being part of the Premiership does. Secondly playing in the Europa only serves to burn our players out since the re-formatting of the comp has been invented, more Monday night football.... No thanks, it throws up too many fixtures for our domestic campaign and is only a hindrance. There are enough pre-season friendlies, enough league and domestic cup games for our team to ''gel''.

Then if we'd play second stringers in the Europa cup I can see many bemoaning the fact they've spent air fares and accommodations to fly to some Eastern block back wash only to see an insipid and uninspiring Liverpool side get beaten 1-0 by whodoyaknickabollocof. Yeah canny wait to see this...

Here is another scenario, spurs and man city win only 1 gamr between now and the end of the season, we win all the remaining games and qualify for CL. Everyone will be happy

we should qualify for europe and go all out to win it even if its a second tier competition. no competition is too small for us and we're not too big for any competition. any excuses about risking a burn out or injuries is rubbish as others teams are still in 2 or 3 competitions concurrently and if they can do it, why not us? besides, the more competitions we're in, the more opportunities for fringe players such as Spearing and Ngog to have a run out. if those players don't get a chance to play, there'll be less chances of them showcasing their abilities which could entice other clubs to make an offer for them.
