Johnson is the new pennant

I take the point but I don't blame Johnson he had two Braga players constantly in front of him in the second half. Where was Cole or Meireles giving him more support? Aldo was right on LFCTV we missed Kelly in both ties but the lack of movement was all to clear. Maxi needs to be released on a free as soon as possible I don't know how Rafa ever brought such a waster to LFC he makes Voronin look effective!

Maxi doesnt do anything. Therefore he doesnt fu'ck up. Therefore he gets a place.
Johnson is starting to infuriate me. He has potential talent (like Babel) but insists on turning back when in possesion and looks terrified of bombing on. He is always stopping the flow. He needs a slap to liven him up. Or fu'ck off. One of the two.

i know there's so much more to the colossus's game but i fear the worst with our 2 centre backs (not inc. agger) and after witnessing the crouch years.

Very much justified after tonight, new this was coming.

WimblPool.

it wasn't just now and again either... unless lucas practically went back to tackle the ball off the pair of them, uppppp it went, hoofed towards carroll. disgusting.

Liverpool haven't escaped from the Rafa mentality of constantly knocking it back to Reina to hoof downfield. Tonight was embarrassing and confirmed again how limited this squad of players is without Kelly, Aurelio,  Agger, Gerrard and Suarez.

Have to admit I'm not convinced about him as a player, it looks as though Soto is playing upfront challenging for aerial headers and for 35M? pfft, I need convincing.

Also with him in the side our team dynamics have changed drastically and that isn't positive either.

I know its early but...

Yes we definitely need quality on the wings.  However, I think you mean Ashley Young  :D

I know he's good esp. in the air. Personally I'd have preferred a Suarez and Torres (yes, I know he's gone) partnership up front. I remember in his last few matches here under Kenny's tutelage he was getting more like the player he once was since Kenny was a striker, I'm sure he knew how to get the best out of a striker. Unfortunately he's gone.

Time will tell whether Carrol will be a prolific scorer like Rushie, Fowler or another not so prolific average striker like Crouchie. But I can definitely say he's overrated at 35 million.

so we are now liverhighball

we did not win last due to the amount of high balls we were putting in, in hope that Carroll would get his head on one, the amount of free kicks we gave away trying to do this was silly and in a lot of cases a low ball would have been much better, he might be tall but he also has feet.

As someone told me just after we signed him - Carroll is the equivalent purchase of going into a small corner shop 1 minute before closing and paying £20-00 for a Pot Noodle because you were starving   :glare:

how can you say he looked great, he looked :censored: off that the only timne he was being given the ball was when it was put in high, i know he is tall but he also need the ball put into his feet, last night 3 times if the ball had been put to his feet he could have got a shot away, but know they stuck it on his head.

The problem last night was not Carrol it was the complete and utter lack of any creativity in the team, I've said it before and I'll say it again we have far to many average players in the team who only seem able to get motivated when they are in the shop window playing Manure, the chavs etc. We need a massive clearout in the summer.

i'm not convinced carroll will ever really be worth £35M as an individual but if his play can add £20M collectively to the value of meireles, gerrard and suarez's performances, then it's a good deal. a big target man like that needs a clever, energetic and technical player to exploit/create space off and around him to show his true value - suarez, not kuyt.

 good analogy.

Thats pretty much how i saw it... rushed last ditch purchase with the huge wad of cash we recieved. Recall seeing the SSN yellow ticker around 1pm on the last day of the window "newcastle reject Liverpool offer".. and thinking thank christ.

Having said that.. i immediately like what i see in both ties vs Braga. His touch looks solid.. and thats massive. To be able to trap the ball, hold it up...lay it off...with his size, physique, aerial ability.. we have a major player on our hands. And Suarez is the perfect foil to play off him.

You also have to factor in what a diabolical central midfield he had behind him against Braga..he was fed nothing. And he is a forward who needs service.

Quality midfield signings in the summer, decent service to Carroll.. then we will finally see what we have bought.
