I doubt a deal is on the cards before May but even if it is two years seems the likeliest outcome. Also the comparison with Rafa is false given that we were under previous owners who had no money to spend on new players.

I don't think 2 years is an insult at all. Kenny was already semi-retired, and it's altogether possible that he doesn't WANT to manage the team for five years. Perhaps he just wants to get LFC back on its feet and turn its fortunes around. Relatively doable in 2 years.

However...if he turns the team around in two years I can't imagine him saying "well, I'm done here, bye!"

Currently Kenny is the most qualified manager to manage Liverpool because right now we're not out of the woods yet and we need someone like Kenny around to get us out of the mess a.s.a.p.

I know that there are great managers around who can bring back the glory days, guys like Hiddink, the current Barca coach(sorry, I've forgotten his name now) whom I'm certain can do the job but the question is, are they available and if so, will they want to come to a club like Liverpool with no CL and most likely not even in Europa competition next season?

Given this fact, who is the best person in the world right now to be put in charge who loves the club and still wants the job despite knowing there's no European football next season? I'm sure you all agree it's the King. So let KK continue for at least 3 more seasons and then decide what to do next.

Liverpool chief John W Henry insists that talks with Kenny Dalglish will be held in private and in the right way.

Principal owner Henry is quickly adapting to what he describes as the 'Liverpool way' and he insists that talks about the manager's job will be done behind closed doors.

Henry watched Dalglish's side claim a 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, a victory which takes them to within four points of fifth place Tottenham.

Last week Henry admitted talks were yet to begin in earnest over Dalglish's immediate future, as his current tenure is only due to last until the summer.

And he continues to maintain that any talks over Dalglish's future will not be played out in public.

"What's going on in that regard is private," Henry is quoted by the Daily Telegraph.

"It's something called the Liverpool way and you do these things behind closed doors.

"I'm not going to talk about these things, but he's done very well.

"It's all very positive, someone was saying that people weren't happy here. But I think since that person left, people are happier.

"We are working on the future. We will have to have a lot of days like today to do that (finish fifth). This was a big three points, because this is a tough place.

"Tottenham are fifth and look very good, so we will have to play extraordinarily well. We will have to win when they come to Anfield to have a shot at that."

Dalglish was also quick to rubbish reports claiming he had asked for a four-year deal.

"As regards the job, I've seen in the papers I've asked for a four-year contract, but I don't know who I'm supposed to have asked. I also saw that I was offered two but I don't know who sent that in," he said.

"Somebody asked if I'd spoken to the owners. Of course I have, I speak to them every week. They're fantastic and supportive but there's been no detailed discussions about next year.

"Until there's something to be said we can't make it up for you, until then, there's nothing.

"For me that's not a problem. The club has always been the most important thing. I don't have a problem with that. There's no pressure on anyone."

Up till now I still don't know the real reason why Kenny resigned from Liverpool back in Feb 1991. I heard that it was stress, Hillsborough, discord with board members and assistants. It is all a mystery to me. Could anyone enlighten me on this?
