Why wasn't Torres our number 9 in europe?  ???

Did eggnogg snatch it up right after torres left or something? I would think we would have given it to Carroll considering we were giving him the number 9.

You're right, for once.

Torres already played in the EL as number 9. The registration of that number cannot be changed.

Liverpool beat the reigning champions away, thrashed by a bottom club, thrashed the league leaders, lost to not so well known Portugese side. It's all a yoyo performance. I hope it is true that Pool are just too inconsistent due to too many mediocre players in the side and Kenny is working with a team mostly with players who are not the men he would have wanted except for Suarez and Carroll.

Now I hope the reason behind the inconsistency can be explained from a football logic perspective only. And I hope it is not due to some other SINISTER reason. What sinister reason? In one part of the world, many people are convinced that many of these games are rigged due to the cancer of gambling and owners' greediness etc. Sometimes a strong team playing a weaker team and the strong team is expected to win handsomely and the whole world would bet on them to win, the unexpected result of a draw/defeat would result. The bookies would earn their millions from the gamblers because the bookies fixed the match.

Sometimes the owners could be involved esp. when they've just spent millions in buying a PL club and they want to recoup some of their millions back. So when their side play a weaker team and most gamblers would bet on his team to win, he would used proxies to bet on his side to lose/draw. This is too easy for him as he would get his manager to get his team to avoid victory. This way he could win millions in one game.

So certain games (not all) are fixed by owners and/or bookies to make money out of naive gamblers but the eventual champions would still be the best team as they would not fix a mediocre team to win the EPL.

I'll probably get a lot of ridicule and scolding from you lot and I find it hard to believe either, but sometimes when results just don't make sense, I do begin to have my suspicions that it could be true though I hope it's not.

We just don't have enough quality in the squad when 5 or 6 of our top players are out.

It's not surprising we were in trouble with a midfield of Cole, Poulsen, Lucas, Spearing and Meireles - 4 central midfielders, there was just no balance.

Maxi should have played instead of Poulsen or Spearing.

We could just about get away with Poulsen holding in a balanced midfield but I just don't know where Spearing fits in.

We need some quality wide players bad.

dire first half. slightly better in the second although it still highlights that there are massive deficiencies in the squad.

having said that 1-0 isn't the worst result. i still expect us to go through in the second leg. braga were dire in the 2nd half. we made them look better than they are in the first half because our lack of pressing was embarassing.
