THE OFFICIAL KENNY DALGLISH THREAD - Return of the King

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby worcester_red » Tue Mar 01, 2011 12:06 pm

I think Kenny is doing a good job with the rubbish players at his disposal both in terms of talent and commitment. One thing I will always commend Lucas and Kuyt for is that what they lack in footballing ability they make up for in passion and commitment.

The players who need to be replaced in my opinion are:
Lucas - not good enough
Kuyt - no where near good enough
Carragher - far to slow
Gerrard - doesn't seem bothered any more and not good for the team
Reina - assuming here that he wants to leave anyway
Maxi - rubbish
Jovanovic - rubbish
N'Gog - utter garbage

there is probably a whole lot more that need shipping out.

I know Gerrard and Carra will raise a few eyebrows and heckles but I really think we need a completely fresh start as something has been wrong with the team spirit for a long time now, just compare our effort to West Ham's in the last match for example. The situation at the moment and for a long time is that if Stevie plays well the team play well, if he is rubbish then the team is rubbish, in short he has far to much influence over the team. Sometimes we actually play far better without him.

Skertel, Kuyt, Lucas, N'gog, Maxi et al. Most of these muppets get a game each week still.

Since when is a Brazilian international a muppet?

Since when is a Dutch international and an Argentina International a muppet?  :D

You can add Skertel a Slovakian Int....Bottom line Int or not our squad is riddled with deadwood ,walking dead ,you name it we have them...We need at least 6 more players to have a decent contending team.

Kenny in my opinion ,hasn't rissen to the occuasion as of yet as he deploys the same deadwood (Kuyt,Skertel,Maxi) as the rest did and has some bizzare player selections and subs (Why the Fck Paulson is still here)..I don't see him try Pacheco which everyone hails ,can't understand our LB situation (Johnson is not a LB) ,can't understand his defensive setup (it's as if we are fighting for something)...I have yet to see ONE quality performance from our team this season.

Kenny is working with what he has got and has done a good job so far.
Results despite Sunday have picked up.
The squad is not good enough, and it doesnt matter whose fault that is.
We do need a major overhaul but could get away with bringing in 3 first team players and being competitive again.
United have players that arent good enough, but they also have more good players than we have also.
We need pace in the side. Ashley Young would be a major signing. A player that can play either side and would scare opposing defences.
A centre half and a left back are also a must.
Enrique at Newcastle looks a solid enough player and that Tawao from Marseille is out of contract at the end of the season and is a solid player.
The centre half one is more difficult as they are hard to come by.
Liked the look of Tomkins for West Ham the other day to be honest.

My first choice would be Phillips mexes...

I dont agree at all about Gerrard.
The lad was coming back from a month out and admittedly didnt have a great game but he will prove the doubters wrong soon enough.
The reason West Ham were far more up for it was because they are fighting fo their lives and were desperate for the points.
Like it or not our league campaign is already effectively over. We were never likely to get top 4 after the disastrous first half of the season and whether its unprofessional or not players can be less motivated for games if that is the case.
I have virtually wrote the season off, i just hope we can win the europa league and that come Jan Kenny is given the money required to reshape the squad.

I've watched a couple of West Ham games this season and don't think Tomkins is the answer, yes he had a great game against us but that is just one off. He is very similar to Skrtel in terms of making multiple mistakes. I don't think he is good enough for a team such as us, we need a solid, good in the air and composed center half, someone like Hangelaand.

I like the look on Gary Cahill of Bolton, very solid center half.

I would trust your judgement mate as i am only forming an opinion of him based on one game.

Mate Gerrards had more :censored: games, fewer good games and hardly ever do we see a great performance from him anymore. Im talking about the last 2 years now. I also believe we should cash in on him hes another player past 30 whos best days are behind him. Gerrards my favourite player of all time before people think ive got something against the lad, but every dog has his day.

But I wont
:;):

Roy shouldnt have been anywhere near the club, his level is at the WBA's and fulhams of this world not Liverpool FC !!!!

"Maybe now its time to start pointing the finger in the players directions we are on our 3rd manager in a year and they are still playing sh!te !!!!"

Some of us were pointing the finger at the players a while ago. Its basically the same set of players being picked with much the same problems, no matter who is the manager.
I must say though that the two previous managers had a lot to do with it. More than KK has anyway.

I can't believe some on here are questioning Kenny? he has tried to do the best he can with the sh!te he has to work with. But his 2 signings he has made so far have been Suarez & Carroll. For me anyway thats 10/10 for each one. The 2 players he has bought are top class, end of story. So by that account, he's trying to manage with what he has left because he knows that come the end of season he can ship out some sh!te and buy in some good. come on folks, we know whats happening here it's as clear as day. Kenny knows he can do this but it isn't gonna happen over night, lets judge him come Xmas when he's had time to mould the new team. Let's see where he has us come December 26th. My money would be on top four and I'll bet anyone on it.

If we can get to the end of this season with a bit of credit and our heads above water then Kenny will work it out over summer.

That seems to be the problem mate... we have too many fans expecting too much too soon.  (maybe a problem with football in general).

I happen to agree with your expectations.  Lets finish the season with our heads held high and maybe even a trophy.

8 or 9 weeks ago things were desperate.  12th in the league and 4 points above relegation, could hardly buy a win or keep a clean sheet.

After a couple of wins people seemed to be expecting Kenny to deliver a top 4 finish or "maybe he wasnt the man".  People also seem to expect him to instantly get us playing football like Barca, play Suso and Sterling and turn them into world beaters over night.

kenny will put things right but we need to be realistic.  We didnt sign a cup tied, unfit striker and another injured striker with only the next couple of games in mind.

I think the minority on here are questioning KD,

Lets try and analyze for people to UNDERSTAND how we improved.

Before the West Ham game we conceded 1 goal in 7 games ---> huge improvement

We went unbeaten for 7 games ---> huge improvement

We started playing higher up the pitch, press more the opposition  and passing the ball even better ---> huge improvement

Anyone who disagrees with this needs to go get his head checked, with KD we are looking better and more confident. The West Ham game was one off.

I agree, but the two Prague games were also not up to standard.

This is a long climb up a very steep hill. We will get there in the end but there is no quick fix.

Next season will also be all about rebuilding, both the team, playing style etc. Forget title challenge and alla that because there is no chance whatsoever for that. 1 step at a time which means to try and get closer to the top 5 next season.

The previous owners ****** us up big time so Kenny has a lot of cheap dross to contend with and very few new players these past few years.
