We were hum drum last night there is no getting away from it, ok so we were not at full strength so there are some plusses.

I think the posters who are moaning about us being a little too defensive must be on something! I woule rather see us not conceeding goals and scraping wins opposed to :censored: week in week out goal fests.

Tightening up defence has been a massive bonus for us since kenny came in, but christ he cant fix everything in a few weeks.

The offence will come. We for sure have the players who can fire it up when required and we have also signed some proper stars. Also look at all that potential in the youth setup.

The futures bright

Yeh i must be on something ,how dare we ask our team to play a bit more risky against a side which has just returned from a 2 month break of no football at all....What a dreamer am i....

You know what even on a practical level it would have been much better if we tried getting the away bonus goal and avoid potentialy ,although very slim ,accidents in Anfield.

I agree we are not yet ready to walk to any stadium with an offensive approach but giving up in advance is just unaccaptable.

Totally agree, it was an embarrassing display form us and if someone had asked you which team hadn't played for a few months you'd probably have picked Liverpool, it was utter garbage in attack, but what do you expect with Kuyt, Maxi and N'Gog, 3 truly awful players who seem to be getting worse by the match.  :sniffle

The clubs that are most successful are those that still pick up the necessary points, even when they play like absolute garbage..

Look at manure...

All we needed was an away draw and the fact that we played horribly, picked up a clean sheet and got the away draw is good enough for us.

The loss of Torres has been a blow to winning this Europa trophy. We don't have a prolific goal scorer to grab the needed goals for us in this competition. It's not because we don't have better replacements but Suarez and Carroll are ineligible. So we're going to depend on Ngog and Kuyt as strikers and they are not prolific scorers. So if we win this trophy it's a bonus but we should concentrate the difficult task of displacing Spurs and Chelsea from 4th spot. Last but not least, it's how well is the rebuilding of a new Liverpool in the summer that is most important now.

The only worry I have is us having trouble getting that final ball in to get the opening goal with N'gog more than likely being our man up front.. I think we'll absolutely dominate possession even more so this time around and will play much better football.. they're going to sit 10 men behind the ball though just like they did at home so it will be hard to break them down but I expect us to be in control of the match throughout.  Like I said though, worried we will find it really hard to get that opening goal.. hopefully Stevie is fit.

Carroll can play he's just inured... Which means realistically if we get past Prague he may be fit by the time the next rounds begins?  So we missed a striker for 2 matches, and considering we didn't play a whole lot of stronger players, I think we should be fine.  Carroll will rip Europa apart.

Think a team like below could be very balanced between attack and defense.   (I know someone will reply blasting that team for playing 3 centre halves at home but its actually quite attacking and well balanced)

              Reina
     Greek  Carra  Agger
Kelly                        Johnson
               Lucas
      Meirles        Gerrard

           Ngog   Kuyt

Once we win at home, it doesnt matter how many they score.

Gonna go for a 5-4 win for us next Thursday.

Seriously though, we have to be able to beat these at Anfield.......

i know we shud be but that doesnt always happen, as we lfc fans know more than most.

gerrard isnt playin i think, which sort of messes that formation up, unless we played poulsen,    so id go 4-4-2

                     reina
kelly       carra        agger         johnson

maxi       meireles      lucas       aurelio

                kuyt         ngog

keep it basic and get the win.
