Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

Ya I don't know if they meant 2 and a half months from December or from now.  Hopefully Kenny is right and it will be in a couple weeks... I hate to pay all that money as a desperation signing and not be able to use him until next season anyway.  We may as well have just waited and gotten a better deal ???

Hopefully a couple weeks until he's back and then he can get back to his goal scoring ways for us. :;):

Carroll is like the Crouchie kind of striker. Tall and maybe deadlier than Crouchie in the air. He will work well with Stevie G's crosses and will score a lot from headers. But one question I have about his last minute transfer is, do Newcastle fans hate him like most of us hating Torres for leaving at the last minute without giving his old club time to find a replacement.

if this is true, then Newcastle has screwed us up, in another words, Newcastle has done a "torres" on us.
if Carroll is out for the rest of the season, why will we sign him now for 35m when we could have gotten him at the end of the season for 25m-30m? the lower price tag will also lessen the burden on him.

This out till next season sounds like a bit of propaganda on Newcastle's part, they know their fans are pis sed at losing him without getting a replacement in so they're trying to make it look like they've pulled the wool over Liverpool's eyes.

I really doubt we'd have splashed £35m on him now knowing that he's going to be out injured for 5-6 months, we've supposedly got some of the best doctors in the business at the club and they aren't gonna risk their jobs and reputation by passing him through his medical on a whim.

absolute rubbish. Even afetr signing for £35 million there are clauses that he needs to pass the emdicals that he is put through. It is all done subject to.. and everyone knows this.

They didnt screw us, we just made a bad deal. 30+ mill was always too much for carroll, injured or not.

We just need to be patient.  He starts playing too early and it will get worse.

I remember MOTD showing a highlights compilation of him in one game and I simply thought he was similar to Crouch in terms of hold up play. I don't know about his all round game but he certainly has the strength to maintain a physical presence

I live in the North East and the general feeling is that of a traitor yes. Though the fee attached to him couldn't be resisted, a lot of Geordies accept that. There's still strong debate regarding the transfer request however. I was going to say he's joined a bigger club but I suspect something similar would get thrown back at me  :D

He is similiar to Crouch but he is far far better at doing the things Crouch does, I hope this injury doesn't linger around all season that would be a shame.  It doesn't seem like it should be such a big issue though.
