Andy Carroll signs for West Ham

The Premiership - General Discussion

saw a report on torres's agent saying that they waited till Suarez was signed before handing in the transfer request, as the board do not want to pay extra to Ajax.

if we are more firm on selling torres, we could have sign Carroll for 30m, and take the excess to sign C.Adams, before news leak that chelski was going to offer big bucks for torres.
but i confident we going to sign Charlie next season for a knock down price as his contract is running out and he wants to play for us. :D

Since Carroll uses size and strength as his main weapons I am excited about his development as he ages. Owen who was a fantastic player when he was younger relied on speed and his wispey body to make chances for himself. As he aged and gained weight he became stockier and thus lost a yard of pace and coupled with various injuries he was never the same player again, same could be said of Rooney as he seems to want to get fat. Carroll on the other hand relies on assets that will only improve ie his size and power and when you add to that experience he could well be one of the better buys we have ever made (Dalglish, Barnes) even though he was overpriced. I  am excited about this players future.

The downside of that is that the extra weight usually make people get hurt quicker. Just look at Koller.

If his reaction to being sold is true, then I really like this guy as a person.

Well in lad and welcome to LFC.

He's not on the injured list on the offy now so means he must be back in training. Just a matter of getting fit now.

He is a mountain! Vidic and Ferdinand used to get outmuscled by Torres, they'll be having nightmares about this big lad already!

Vidic and Ferdinand won't cope with his aerial presence, on second thoughts even Terry can't cope with him in the air. He is a beast.

Nobody can deal with him.  Nobody has figured out how to play him yet.  Soto was torn apart by him when we played them and Soto is our big beastly guy that's supposed to deal with that.  Now that he's on our side, we will win much more balls in the box.  The great thing is that Carroll isn't a selfish player.  If he gets the ball with an angle to the goal, he tries to head it down to his mates feet to tap in.  I could see him getting a decent amount of goals and assists.

That other lad at Newcastle Leon Best looks a talent. Assuming Kenny stays in the job long term he might go for another raid up there as back for Carroll and Suarez.

Andy Carroll may not kick a ball for his new club this season.

The 22-year-old England striker, signed for £35million last week, is still struggling to overcome a thigh muscle tear that has kept him out of action since December 28.

Newcastle initially claimed that the injury would see him sidelined for a fortnight.

However, medical experts, who treated Carroll at the time, said he was more likely to face at least a two-and-half month lay-off.

Newcastle’s decision to sell their top scorer last Monday was partly precipitated by their own fears that he may not play again for them during the current campaign.

Liverpool maintain Carroll is merely weeks away from returning, but they run a high risk of making his injury worse if he resumes training too soon.

The injury, in the muscle just above the thigh, has limited blood circulation which hampers the healing process.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was relaxed about Carroll’s injury plight.

He said: “It will only be a few weeks. He’s signed for five and a half years, so what’s a few weeks?”

England boss Fabio Capello  revealed that FA medical staff had been in touch regarding Carroll’s fitness.

Capello said: “I don’t know what is happening. It is a problem with the doctors.”
