Best starting 11 with the new players.

I'm not sure of the whole Kelly-Johnson fullback situation... Also not sure Gerrard and Meireles would form a solid and balanced midfield partnership... There's a distinct lack of balance about the side imo and with no left footed players in the side and with wide players like Kuyt, Maxi, Johnson and even Kelly all preferring to cut inside rather than taking men on to put crosses in or making runs behind fullbacks we could end up becoming very predictable with the narrow approach...

A better side imo would be:

                                                 Reina

Johnson                    Carragher                    Agger                    Aurelio

      Gerrard                 Meireles                    Lucas

                                               Suarez                             Maxi/Kuyt

                                        Carroll

Remember that Carroll wont be available for a few weeks... So we might need to go with a 1man upfront system for a while and if works well then I cant see us changing it... Will probably have to move Suarez to a second striker role or switch him to the flank and go for a 4-3-3 ...

King Kenny is old school, therefore I don't expect anything other than a good old fashioned 4-4-2!I don't think for a second that he has bought 2 strikers to shove Suarez out on the left as some have suggested....in fact I'd be amazed if he does being a striker himself.
We need to forget all our caution from under Rafa and Roy....set the team out to attack and win,let our opponents worry about containing us,not vice versa.I think that is exactly what Kenny will do.

I reckon we will see something not far from this:

                                                 Reina
                              GJ      Carra           Agger     Aurelio

                              Kuyt    Meireles       Gerrard   Cole

                                         Suarez       Carroll

No "DM"as such but I think we have become too obsessed with that position due to Rafas insistence on protecting the back 4,anyway Gerrard can tackle as well as anyone.I don't think it's an issue.
Thats what I wanna see....shackles off and get right at every team with no fear from hear on in,I reckon KK will go for it too......he has nothing to loose,if it dont work no one will hold it against him....he'll always be adored!

Onwards and upwards.....cant remember feeling so optimistic and excited about us in a very long time!!

Might I add....bout time Cole started doing the business, deserves a chane at a run of games IMO....quality player!

Obviously massively depends on form and fitness, but I'd like to see....

                             Reina

Kelly           Wilson           Agger             Aurelio

Gerrard       Lucas           Meireles           Cole

                Suarez
                                  Carroll

For me, Kelly has eared the RB berth and it's up to Johnson to win it back.  I don't fancy him at right mid.

Carroll needs good service from wide, so Stevie goes out right until the end of the season.

There'll be eyebrows raised at Wilson, but I massively rate this kid and I think Skrtel is a liability.  Dalglish apparently had a lot to do with Wilson's signing, so I expect him to get a chance at some point.  When Carragher's fit he has to come back in though, still our best defender despite his age.

I really like Kuyt, but I don't think he's going to suit the way we want to play with Carroll and Suarez coming in.  I think we'll be looking for more width and more like an orthodox 4-4-2.  Kuyt doesn't suit that.

I'm not a fan of a flat 4 in midfield with the personnel we've got, not unless Gerrard mans the right flank. There is no point setting up that way with Kuyt, Maxi, Cole or Mereilles on the flanks. They are all completey unsuited to playing wide in a 4 but can all do na job playing higher up the pitch (and a little more narrow) as part of a front 3.

.........................Reina..........................

Kelly..........Carra.........Agger.............Johnson

................Lucas..............Miereles..............

........Gerrard..........Suso..........Suarez.........

..........................Carroll............................

I dont believe we need a no-nonsense type player like Poulsen just get a team on the pitch thats not gonna give the ball away. The more posession we have the less we have to defend simple.

I agree with you on this. I just don't get some fans obsession with playing Johnson on the right side of midfield just because he's perceived as being better going forward than defending. It's a completely different position and requires completely different attributes than playing at fullback.

As you said, Gerrard is by far the best option we have to play on the right flank if we play 4 in midfield but lets face it, that's not going to happen. 4-3-3 is the way forward.

Reina

Kelly Carragher Skrtle Johnson

                Lucas
      Gerrard        Mireles

Kuyt                          Suarez
                Carroll

I'm not really sure what's the best partnership out of our 3 centre halfs... I think Skrtle gives a bit a steal.
I think Cole should be given more of a chance, so he can swap with Kuyt regularly and I think he could challenge him for the spot full time.
Maxi's got his work cut out to get in the team unless we play 442 and even then I think Jovanovic should be given a go.

We can make a decent bench out fo the below too...
Jones, Agger, Soto, Aurelio, Spearing, Maxi, Cole, Jovanovic, Suso, Pacheco and Ngog.
